Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 12, 2010 12:25 pm First off, I found this forum by googling "RedInk Custom 5000" and found a few posts relating to the same house I am building with RedInk. I have been kept busy reading posts here and decided to also share my experiences (and photos) with you all.. I bought my block (located in Mandurah, WA) in late September 2009, found a house plan that would suit, signed all the papers and quickly applied for my first home owners grant ($21,000 woo hoo!). I didn't spend much time looking around for 'the perfect' house since I will be the only one living there and I felt the size of this house was more than enough for me. Welcome Ry34 Good going squeezing in for the first home buyers grant, and Redink has done such a good job for their first home buyer's market with the Evo/Custom/Benchmark series. So big and spacious, you'll be swimming around the place Your build seems to be going really well so far viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Custom 5000, RedInk Homes in Mandurah (1st Home) *Photos* 4Feb 14, 2010 11:13 am Welcome Ry34 I am also building the custom 5000 in Mandurah but I havent even got a slab yet. Your theatre design has got me second guessing mine now . I would really like to see it in the flesh if you were willing to pm me your street name. The major change I made to my 5000 was relocate the wc and bath to the activity, spin bed 2 90 degrees, delete hall wall and bingo, a 4x4m closed of activity was born . Much better than the standard sise activity, but I really have stuffed the zoning up which may come and bite me in the *** come live in time. I upgraded all clay internals to accoustic maxibricks ($1014) to try and counteract, but only time will tell if thats enough. I have a friend who said her brother also Ryan was building this house in Mandurah as well, you wouldn't have a sister would you? A couple of reasons behind my theatre design... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Moved the doors from (1) to (2) because where the doors were originally placed meant you had to put your tv/couch against wall (2) and (3) (cannot have a couch in front of the window (4)). With the new design, my couches can go along wall (3), TV & cabinet can sit nicely in the middle of wall (1) or in my case I'll hang a projector from the ceiling above the couches (3) and project an image onto the wall (1) I can put speakers and/or shelves in the extra nooks either side of the screen. Yep, it certainly looks the part. I also think the nooks created in the hallway are really going to up-spec your entry hall. Unfortunately, its not an option for me as my dining room table is going to be on the other side of where your double entry doors are. My doors are only 720 each and are located on the corner of (1) and (4). I am hoping that I wont loose too much of wall (1)s usable length as the 1st opening door is the one closest to (4) and I plan to put a speaker directly behind the permanently closed second door. I have the option of couches on wall 4 as I have changed the 2 awnings to 1 double sliding window, high enough to fit a couch underneath. I want rollershutters which are not possible with awnings. Oh, If you dont already know, the sparkies are doing your prelay today, and your colourbond has arrived. Have you calculated if a HDMI cable will fit down your 32mm wallplates ? Whats your plans for your "linen"? With all those wallplates/powerpoints, it looks like its going to be a server room ! Lastly, did they use a concrete pump for your slab pour ? Its a $1000 charge I really want to avoid, but my salesman says they are being used very regularly, even if they have good access. Thanks for allowing me to take a peek Pete Re: Custom 5000, RedInk Homes in Mandurah (1st Home) *Photos* 8Feb 16, 2010 4:58 pm Ventura Victory??? Thanks for allowing me to take a peek Pete Had a quick look at the house yesterday, they were removing bricks from the site. I'll swing by and take a look this afternoon on my way home I hope an HDMI cable will fit, if not I'll have to make it fit... My "linen" is really just a wiring closet, telephone/tv aerial point/network/etc. They used a concrete pump (even though the block was completely flat and only had one neighbouring house at the time), seems as thought they make you pay the $1000 to make the concreters job easier/quicker Building with RedInk Custom 5000 Expected Finish Date - May 2010 Re: Custom 5000, RedInk Homes in Mandurah (1st Home) *Photos* 9Feb 16, 2010 7:41 pm Vundaful! Windows/Doors should be in this week I had a look at the place yesterday and head running water, when i looked a bit closer, it must have been coming from the laundry. The first thing I did was turn the water off at the mains. Here are a couple of photos of what I found... I have told the supervisor about this and emailed him the photos. I also saw this when I walked behind the house... Its a bummer about the leak, but try and look on the bright side, at least you know your weep holes are not blocked. Now the plaster is on, it really shows the size of the house. The family room is huge. I saw ref_kt's family room through the window and that was huge, but actually seeing it inside really brings it into perspective. Your theater "RECS" really set the theatre off, and how it up-specs your entry is such a bonus. The 4 wall plates for your speaker cables has really added that professional touch. I have measured all 4 of my HDMI cables and the widest is 24mm, so you will have no problems getting them up the 32mm conduit. Where do you intend mounting your projector ? I am going to bore a hole in the wall between the theatre and the linen wall and mount it on a shelf on the linen wall. the ultimate hush box. I was thinking about adding a couple of small halogen lights in each of the recesses in the hallway later on which should liven up the hallway at night The plan was to ceiling mount the projector as high and far back as possible (of course this depends on the projectors throw distance).
