Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 12, 2010 2:30 am Hi All, New to the site and was just wondering if anyone was building up in Bedfordale WA? I am going with Redink, The Benchmark (very modified). Hopefully the building licence comes through next week and things can get underway. Would love to hear how others in the area are going and who they are building with. Cheers Mich Re: Anyone building Bedfordale WA 2Feb 23, 2010 11:46 am Hi!! We are building with red ink too and also the benchmark! Would love to see your plan I have found red ink to be wonderful so we are really looking forward to it not to mention the size of the house for the price... bargain!! Re: Anyone building Bedfordale WA 3Feb 23, 2010 12:28 pm Hi, great seeing more Redinkers! There are a good handful of us on here and so far no problems reported The Benchmark is fantastic value, can't wait to see your modifications! I'm in The Springs. I love it there and so do the kids who are always begging me to go to the block, they spend all their time up there climbing in trees and building cubby houses. Hi Vunderful and Rhi, I've been following both of your threads and glad to see you've had good experiences so far with Redink. Once I have my final plans back (next week) will figure out how to upload the plans so you can see them. Hopefully the slab will be going down in about a months time. Can't wait it has been a very long process due mainly to the council and the area we are building in. It is a bushfire hazard area so have had to make changes to comply with the level one requirements. Redink were great and have allowed me to do some of the upgrades myself which have kept the costs from blowing out. Also had an issue with roof colour as we are east of Albany Hwy and had chosen surfmist which the council deems to be too reflective to that area so had to change to Dune which made me sad as I was so happy with my colour selection for the house. I've upgraded to the classique limestone brick which I hope fits in with the Dune. I have asked to batch select the brick as sometimes it comes up too yellow so hopefully will get a more creamy brick if I can look through a few different batches. Re: Anyone building Bedfordale WA 6Feb 25, 2010 9:13 am Thats a shame you had to change your colour! I am lost on colours but I guess I will get there in the end May I ask if it costed you a lot to upgrade? I originally wanted woodbridge handmades but I couldnt afford them RHI - BALDIVIS PERTH 2005 Bought/Finished WA Housing Centre Home 2010 Building the Benchmark with REDINK Homes in The Avalon 2013 Building the Michigan with Cont3nt Living In Highbury Estate! Re: Anyone building Bedfordale WA- Redink Homes Benchmark 7Feb 25, 2010 11:23 am May I ask if it costed you a lot to upgrade? I originally wanted woodbridge handmades but I couldnt afford them Hi, It was $1800 to upgrade the brick. I just didn't like the three choices that were offered and if I were to get it rendered it would have cost me a whole heap more and then I found the classique range amd saw the limestone I was in love. Also it will fit in nicely with the trees and the surrounds of the block -well that is the idea lets hope it carries over!! Re: Anyone building Bedfordale WA 8Feb 26, 2010 3:38 pm I too went for the classique limestone and it cost me exactly the same as you but I am building the custom 5000. IMHO the benchmark has a superior frontage, so much so I have copied it by removing the bedroom blade and adding the portico. If you love the classique bricks now, just wait untill the sun hits them in the right position for the chunky bits to cast shadows. You will be blown away. How have you tackled the wall between the laundry and the inside of your garage as far as the face of the clasique goes ? Would you ever consider the third course to be castle grey classique ? Oh, midland vision advised me paperbark was a better match with the classique and thats what I went with. But I do like dune better as a colour. Damn, more second guessing Re: Anyone building Bedfordale WA -Redink 9Feb 26, 2010 7:39 pm maartie Hi, Jenx which estate are you building in? I'm in The Springs. So Jenx we will be neighbours, there are some great views from Camfield Heights. Quote: Would you ever consider the third course to be castle grey classique ? I thought about it but decided against it, instead I will probably turn the brick around onto the flat side. Also thinking of having the flat side around the windows on the front of the house. We have flipped the house and then turned it on its side as the frontage of our block is 40m across and didn't want a narrower front of house facing the road. We have also brought the wall out on the portico and front of the house and enclosed it so that the wall runs right from the garage up to the main bedroom.
