Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 08, 2010 12:01 pm Hi all, We are going to start building next month!! Am very excited. Builder dropped in some revised plans and our choices of elevations so just thought I would pop the plan on here to see if anyone has any ideas I hadn't thought of. I like the kids area with their bedrooms and the retreat. It looks like a good layout Not long to go if you are starting next month, looking forward to seeing how it all goes Bek Bek I'm back Re: Comments on our revised houseplan please 4Feb 08, 2010 4:16 pm I really like your plan, I could build that myself I can't see anything about it that I would want to change. Only 2 things I could see, your linen cupboard doesnt appear to be very big, I dont know about you but for me I never seem to have enough space. The other thing I was going to suggest for heating and cooling would be a door somehow Closing off the Kitchen, Lounge and dining from the rest of the house. I adore the kids play area, what a great idea to keep toys out of your living areas. We loved this floorplan- it was exactly what we were after. Most important to us was the kids play, and storage storage storage! This plan originally had WIL and the other half of the space was storage from the rumpus. Am hoping if we make the linen a bit deeper and longer I won't lose too much space. Also- the door is a good point- am just unsure where I could put one that it wouldn't look strange. What do you think? Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Comments on our revised houseplan please 9Feb 08, 2010 5:50 pm I don't think I'd change it at all. .. unless your shoe storage doesn't go all the way up the wall to the ceilng. . . then I'd change the shoe storage so it goes all the way up to the ceiling! Re: Comments on our revised houseplan please 10Feb 08, 2010 8:54 pm jodge I don't think I'd change it at all. .. unless your shoe storage doesn't go all the way up the wall to the ceilng. . . then I'd change the shoe storage so it goes all the way up to the ceiling! Jodge- the shoe storage does go right up to the ceiling Thing is- I am not a real shoe person so it will be just another cupboard for me! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Comments on our revised houseplan please 12Feb 08, 2010 9:10 pm The only thing I would maybe change is the WIR to bed 2. I'd make it a BIR and make the bedroom a bit bigger. That being said, you can always hide more mess in a WIR than a BIR Re: Comments on our revised houseplan please 13Feb 10, 2010 2:21 pm Thanks heaps everyone! These are some changes that are being made atm: Master Bedroom door to be moved forward and this will give room for more storage where the existing shoe cupboard and phone cupboard are – this will eliminate the wasted space where the phone outlet was drawn The Fridge cavity to be widened to eliminate the phone cupboard Laundry – changed to corner linen cupboard with a broom cupboard beside this Dilla- I have never had WIR in kids bedrooms before so not sure what I will think but I am hoping they will give more storage space. Bedrooms are fairly good sizes as is so will prob just keep them. I am just hoping that DH will make a shoe rack to put into my built in's. Either that, go to Ikea and buy one! Aside from the jealousy, love the plans. We will have a kids playroom in our place as well but we don't have the storage room... didn't actually think of that. Ah well, too late now. Love the idea of the corner linen cupboard BTW - that will give you more space. Nic. That way you can just close off your bedroom door??? I just wrote that, I wonder how the computer thought that you said it....sigh. Its time for wine and the couch. When I said recessed doors I mean the ones that slide out from the wall. It means you wont lose any of the lovely features of your entry.... hmmm I think I meant cavity sliding doors like in this picture http://www.doorstorewa.com.au/images/p19.gif you can even get them in just glass if you wanted something more modern.
