Hi all,
Have been lurking on this forum for a few weeks now after finding out about it from a work colleague who's building a house too.
We have a small block (236m!) near Wanneroo, which we settled on in October last year. After delays with the council over the building licence we finally got approval just before Christmas.
Then the wait for a slab!! That happened just over a week ago and we now also have bricks sitting on the slab too! I'm hoping work will commence tomorrow, as our neighbours at the back have had their fences removed so our back wall can go up!
Gemmill so far have been ok, although communication could be slightly improved, I still don't know who my CLO is, and never received the DVD that's been mentioned in another thread, but ho hum!! The interior design service provided by Gemmill was fab, although I would have appreciated some prices before pre-start, as we had to take out some things that we'd decided on due to cost issues which were only revealed at the pre-start meeting.
I also had a call from our tile supplier last week to say that one of the tiles we have chosen has been discontinued. This tile was on the floor and wall of our ensuite, and the floor of the toilet. We went to the showroom yesterday and when we asked if they still had the sample so we could choose a similar one, we were informed that they didn't have it any more! Not very helpful!! They then had no cream coloured tiles remotely similar to the discontinued ones, so we've had to change the colours in the ensuite to brown tiles on the floor and ivory on the walls! We also needed to change the feature tiles in the shower as the scheme had changed, so the original stress I felt at the colour meeting was all brought back to me, and this time I didn't have the help of the brilliant interior designer!! It's all done now though, hopefully it'll look ok!!
So all in all so far, there hasn't been TOO much drama!! Lets hope it stays that way!!!
