Browse Forums Building A New House Re: K&C First Home (SPH) 22Sep 21, 2010 10:14 pm heya Guys im also building with SPH, The Sovereign, we only just for council approval, we actually signed up in Jan 10, it took nine months just to get council approval, is this normal? we are building in bedfordale (up in the hills), so we need more info for engineering spec, and spetic tanks etc, but 9 months???? and how long is scheduling, they say about 5wks but im cynical? Re: K&C First Home (SPH) 23Sep 22, 2010 11:50 am Hi Tarty, That does sound like a long time to receive council approval. It does, however, differ from council to council. Our pre-start was easy going, only really took a couple of hours and the rest was lunch and waiting on contracts to be drawn up. At the moment we are being held up by the bank who, unlucky for us, are very hard to get in contact with... 3 weeks and running at the moment with failure to return phone calls and emails from us and SPH. As for scheduling SPH do seem to get their stuff together pretty quick so 5 weeks wouldnt surprise me. Chances are it depends on their current number of jobs and what stage its all up to. Re: K&C First Home (SPH) 25Sep 24, 2010 1:08 pm There isnt a great deal more I can really tell you. We have never had the pleasure of building, or buying for that matter, a home before. SPH did mention at pre-start that their build times were currently around 6-7 months. That can change depending on work load. I can mention that there are 3 SPH homes being built very close to where we are building, and the 6-7 month build time appears pretty spot on. As I mentioned, we have not built or even bought a home before so I can't really answer your question with any experience; all I can suggest is taking a look at some build threads on this website to get an idea of timeframes others have encountered throughout their building experiences. There is a thread dedicated to people who have built or are building with SPH, worth a look if you have not already. Building The Sovereign In Canning Vale With Scott Park Homes Re: K&C First Home (SPH) 26Nov 04, 2010 2:45 pm Have any of you got the Park facade/elevation of the Sovereign? We are looking to build the Sovereign Park and upgrade some features. The Sovereign Park doesn't have a rendered front and we are wondering if it will look okay. The sales guy cannot find anyone that has built the Park version?? If anyone has any photos of the front it would be very useful Re: K&C First Home (SPH) 27Dec 11, 2010 12:10 pm we are building the park sovereign, and changed a few things structually, aesthically we kept the awning windows as per grand range, single brick, and made the front brick work 28c not 25c at the front, that makes a huge difference. that costed about 3k plus but totally worth it. we are also putting a verandah at the front coz we are building in bedfordale, going for a little country feel, so yeah its totally different to what u would have. are u having awning windows? if so, i think the house would look awesome if u rendered it. the awning windows upgrade is roughly from memory only $150 per window. btw, i found SPH really slow for the drafting, but im so happy with the work that has been done, they are moving rather quickly cross fingers they keep going like that till we have keys. Re: K&C First Home (SPH) 28Dec 13, 2010 3:32 pm Moreannen Anyway here it is Almost didn't recognise the house - you've 'flipped' her from the original. It's a lovely house and I am sure you will enjoy turning it into your home. The Better Half and I had our version of the the G Sovereign built a little over a year ago and made most of the changes you have put into your home; gotta love the big bath in the ensuite! Although I do wish I had thought of putting a door at the back of the garage! Rex We were up in Wanneroo last weekend looking through a SPH Soverign display home and it was wonderful. locus 16.SFC recently moved into his newly built Sovereign, I'm sure he'll chime in with some useful comments if he sees this thread. Seriously Moreannen, Tarty - if you'd like to ask anything, then please, don't hesitate, there's no such thing as a silly question ... can't promise the same about the answers though! So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point.
