Blog List add 1069Jan 27, 2012 11:09 am Hi all, We are booked in for our walkthrough next Wednesday and been told handover should be 7-10 days after that. We are pushing for 7 days as we would really like to move in the weekend of 11/12 Feb. We got sent our final invoice on 17 January and have sent off to the bank but our valuation has been delayed by the builder twice and to say the bank aren't very happy is an understatement. I was told today they had gone and unlocked te house for them this morning but somebody must of been there after the supervisor and locked it bak up, so lloks like valuation won't happen til mid next week. On better news our bamboo flooring has gone down and we love it. There was a mix up with the supplier and they accidently sent us the premium product but since it was there error we get to keep it as it was going to take another 3 weeks to get the one we ordered in. We can't wait to move in and start our life at The ponds. Phil and Bel your house looks great from the blog. I was in the area the other day and saw it in person and looks great in person too. Good luck to everyone else and hoe all goes well. Cheers Melissa Melissa Building the Kenthurst by Clarendon at The Ponds Re: The Ponds/ KVR- Anyone building this year? Need to get a quote asap Thanks all Re: The Ponds/ KVR- Anyone building this year? Blog List add 1071Feb 09, 2012 6:35 pm thanks phil.... Phil & Bel Hi Kornjen, We use Internode for internet usage. They are currently merging with iinet. They are using the Telstra infrastructure. More detail is available on our blog. The mobile signal in The Ponds area (generally) - Vodaphone - minimal signal. Optus is fair. Telstra is good. Until the local rim is fixed in the Waterfall area, any new homes being built in this area will not have a home phone until this problem is fixed. It's been promised to be fixed for the last four months. We are just about ready to start letter writing to the local member and the telecommunications ombudsman. This is the only blip on our otherwise fantastic experience of living here at The Ponds. On other news, the rain gardens on Meander Crescent from Riverbank to about Ivory Street were opened and functioning fully in the recent downpour. The water had been diverted due to the continuing works. Now that they have finished in the rain garden it has become operational. It looked fantastic and works a treat. Hope that you all had a fantastic Australia Day. Re: The Ponds/ KVR- Anyone building this year? Hi Phil, Tim and I moved into the Waterfall area just before Christmas we have contacted Telstra and have signed up for home phone and Broadband, we are still awaiting connection. Excuse my ignorance I'm not technologically minded what is the local rim? Does that mean no one in the Waterfall area has access to home phone/broadband? Please help! Does Internode have cheap plans? Danielle Re: The Ponds/ KVR- Anyone building this year? Blog List add 1074Feb 15, 2012 9:54 pm Hi Danielle and Tim, A rim is a box in the street where all the local copper cable from the neighbourhood connect. This box (or the rim) then connects with a fibre optic cable straight to the exchange at Kellyville. This means, everyone in Waterfall should have very fast ADSL2. We can vouch for the quick internet. The rim is located near the corner of Pasture Street and Meander Crescent, near the new park they are landscaping. In new areas, Telstra have been putting in mini exchanges as no one knows what is going on with the NBN (National Broadband Network) at the moment. This is a cost effective (cheap) way to set up good connection speeds within an area. This utilises a combination of copper cable and fibre optic cable. Telstra owns the infrastructure and the only people that can use it are Telstra customers or other ISP's (Internet Service Providers) who go through Telstra wholesale. The price will be similar for everyone. We went with Internode due to being with them for so long and not wanting to change our email addresses. This is in addition to the excellent customer service that they provide. We are getting download speeds with ADSL2 of between 15Mbit/s to 20 Mbit/s. This means that we can download between 15 - 20 Megabites per second. Our upload speed is over 1 Mbit/s. This is as good as it gets with ADSL2. We are 250 metres from the rim. The further away you are from the rim, will mean that there will be some loss over the copper cable. To cut a long story short, everyone in Waterfall should enjoy very fast internet connection through ADSL2 now that the rim is up and running. Furthermore, everyone on the western side of the creek should get connected up to one of these rims which are no more than 1 km apart, so I'm told. People on the eastern side of the creek (Stanhope side) it's a bit hit and miss. Hope this helps, if you need any other information, send us a pm with your contact details and I'll call you. We are very happy living here in The Ponds and are slowly working on our landscaping. The Reedman Home Building a custom design home with Modernview Homes. Architect: Brendan Duffy. To cut along story short, we have tried to get connected with Telstra, but after two weeks, it is still a nightmare. We have had it confirmed that we are in an NBN area, and that construction has finished. We are now waiting for Telstra to confirm when we can get connected. We have to wait two weeks just to find this out. From the sounds of things Telstra haven't even determined there prices and plans for the NBN yet, they are still in testing mode. When and who advised you that you are in an NBN area?? very curious to know as, it was my understanding that there will be no nbn (fibre optic) and no 'cable' internet available to residents in the ponds. only adsl 2+ would be the next best option for everyone here... i know that stonecutters is currently a nbn neighbourhood but not us?... let us know, and I will follow up and make some enquiries. cheers mate.
