Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Keeping track of costs 21May 01, 2010 7:37 pm Excel spreadsheet. I didn't use it for the inclusions/changes we made as our builder supplied us with updates all the time. I did create one before we went for colour selection. This helped us enormously as we didn't forget anything. I have created an excel spreadsheet with tabs - Big ticket items, Smaller stuff, Garden, Window coverings. 'Big ticket items sheet' has the following columns - To Buy, The Make, Shop, Total Cost, Paid to Date, Balance, To Buy Later. This spreadsheet shows that we have paid $21,000 in deposits and part payment, still have $30,500 to pay before we move in (in a few weeks) and have $5,500 of items that can wait a little longer. Smaller stuff includes all the new items (tea towels, utensils, bath towels, light fittings, garden tools). Basically things less than $500. It helps me to make sure that I don't double up. I have been buying new items for the past 2 years. They are all packed up and ready to go. Garden includes all my plants that are in pots waiting to be transplanted. Some I have bought and recorded the cost, and others are gifts. I have also included a column and added the plants soil, light etc. requirements. It has kept me out of trouble and helped me, hopefully, to know where I will plant them. Window coverings. This one is a spreadsheet that I did listing all the windows and adding the cost from the three quotes. This helped us to decide which supplier we would go with. The best method would be to go with whatever you feel helps you. Appreciate that Chippy. I won’t do sand under pavers and will connect all up under pavers, however I was going to do: 1) Roadbase compacted with manual hand tamper 2)… 10 18564 Our standard double-glazed window is tested to achieve, Rw 34, and can be glazed to suit Rw 39. The price is good too... 3 9472 I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13098 |
