Re: zircon's build with SPH - Moved in 482Mar 01, 2011 7:24 pm Hi everyone! Well we've had the keys for four weeks now...and I love the house! It's come together really well I think. We've had some strong winds and last night's storm and the house has stood up well. The sliding doors on the rental would rattle at the slightest breeze so it's nice not to hear that anymore. There's a couple of items that we are still waiting on SPH to finish, thank goodness we didn't delay handover until they had done them! The inside is slowly coming together. It was all a bit of a disaster in the end. I broke my little toe two days before we moved - we'd put a pallet at the front door to stop the sand and while in the act of putting some board down to stop one of the kids falling through the gaps in the pallet, guess what I did? So I couldn't do too much walking and we had to move in before we'd painted or got the carpets in. The carpet was rescheduled three times (the wrong colour had been ordered) before it finally went in last week. The timber floors are all done and we've only got the wet areas left to paint. The site clean done was an absolute joke. All the bobcat driver did was remove the rubbish from one part of the front yard. My Dad did a drive by the house while the clean was happening and commented that the guy was never going to wear the blade out on his bobcat because it rarely touched the ground! We've got rubbish everywhere. A house near us was recently finished and their site clean was actually that - all the broken bricks and render chunks were scooped up and removed. So I've been slowly getting rid of all that so that we actually use the yard without twisting an ankle or stubbing a toe. We've still got to get the retaining wall and fences done; the driveway and alfresco paved; light fittings installed, the list goes on and on! I've still got half a dozen or so boxes to unpack and have no idea where the camera cord thingy is (I didn't pack that stuff away or unpack it so have no idea what system of logic my DH may have used) so no photos just yet. Soon I promise! Re: zircon's build with SPH - Moved in 483Mar 02, 2011 1:44 am Hey zircon, good to hear you are settling in and the house is going well. It must be good having the flooring in and walls painted. Do you think it was/is worth the pain (building), or is it too soon to answer?! Ouch for a broken toe! I don't know what it is with these site 'cleans' - they seem to like burying stuff more than cleaning don't they. I've spent a lot of time trying to clean up as the build has gone on but I know there's still stuff buried that I'm going to find down the track. Anyway, good luck with it all and it would be good to see some pics when you find that cable! Built with Sw1tch H0mes >Build thread< House status 15/12: Gates and A/C finally installed! Half the garage is empty so we can get one car in there now. Progress! Someone near us is building with the same builder...a couple of weekends ago they did their stormwater and they've just spent the long weekend moving dirt around on their block with a bobcat for three days...funny what some people can get away with doing when others can't. Someone from Dowell is coming out this week to remeasure the bathroom flyscreen and perhaps give us one that actually fits the window. SPH now only have two outstanding jobs to finish on our house...it's now 10 months since site works started. The house near us, the one where the owners are doing all this weekend work, will be complete at the end of the month, giving them a build time of 7 months from site works to handover, including the Christmas break. It annoys me because it's a similar sized house and we kept getting told our build was on schedule - ours was a couple of days off 9 months. Hmph! Re: zircon's build with SPH - Moved in 489Mar 09, 2011 6:22 pm I hated when they were constantly saying we are ahead in schedule. Well, at least we are in Zircon and in the end we had less dramas with SPH then some people wit other builders. How did you managed to get down to 3 boxes? It's 2 weeks now and I still have probably 60 to pack in the old house I can't find the time to do anything except constant cleaning ( what was I thinking getting white tiles and furniture) contract 10/11 prestart 04/10 slab 06/10 bricks 07/10 roof 09/10 plaster 10/10 Ceiling 10/10 LOCKUP 10/10 tiling wet areas 11/10 garage floor 11/10 PCI 12.01.11 handover 11.02.11 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=39361&hilit=malvern+springs We are in !!! Re: zircon's build with SPH - Moved in 490Mar 09, 2011 6:38 pm I put all the boxes right in the middle of the family room so I was always looking at them, that kept me motivated to unpack them because they looked awful! Plus I made a point of only putting vague labels on the boxes such as "Kitchen" or "Study". That way I had to unpack because I had no idea exactly what was in each box. If I'd put them in the spare room or garage they would more than likely still be there! I had to outsmart my procrastinating side! Re: zircon's build with SPH - Moved in 491Mar 09, 2011 6:46 pm That's probably what I did wrong - I marked them for what they are - my shoes, power supplies etc - I only unpacked the ones I need contract 10/11 prestart 04/10 slab 06/10 bricks 07/10 roof 09/10 plaster 10/10 Ceiling 10/10 LOCKUP 10/10 tiling wet areas 11/10 garage floor 11/10 PCI 12.01.11 handover 11.02.11 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=39361&hilit=malvern+springs We are in !!! Re: zircon's build with SPH - Moved in 492Mar 28, 2011 7:58 pm Note to everyone else - make sure you get all items done BEFORE you accept the keys. We've had our keys for 7 weeks now and we are still waiting for SPH to sort out two outstanding items. So much for customer service! Re: zircon's build with SPH - Moved in 493Mar 28, 2011 9:59 pm Hmmm, not good z! What's left for them to do? I am almost at PCI now and it's a tough decision to make, whether to get the keys or hang on til everything's done! I suspect my builder would be like yours in that department, so hanging on might be worthwhile.... Built with Sw1tch H0mes >Build thread< House status 15/12: Gates and A/C finally installed! Someone from maintenance is coming out this week to have a look at the long list of items we had that needed attention. Number one on the list was the remaining item from PCI - yes six months on and they still haven't sorted it! We've had several excuses but all in all I think it's pretty poor. We've done the sealing of the walls but have yet to do the proper painting as we decided to wait and see what happened with any movement. We've had a bit of cracking and separating of the cornices in some rooms but not others. Love living in the house though. Re: zircon's build with SPH - Moved in 495May 08, 2012 1:59 pm Hi Zircon, you never did post any "moved in" pics ... how are things going now ... all settled? Has everything been fixed? Re: zircon's build with SPH - Moved in 496May 09, 2012 4:39 pm I must put up a pic or two then. 95% of things on our list were fixed in the end. We decided to sort the smaller items out ourselves, it just wasn't worth it. We're well and truly settled in now, although there's still artwork to be hung and shelves to be put up in the kids rooms. We're working on the landscaping. Out the front we've done a dry creek bed, just need to get some stones for contrast, at the moment it just looks like a gravel path! Finally the ground is getting cool enough to plant up here. Re: zircon's build with SPH - Moved in 497Jan 18, 2013 9:03 am Hi - we're still waiting for those pics .....
