We got a phone call today to arrange pci for tomorrow morning. Thought this was great because I assumed this meant our panel lift doors and roller door had been installed today..... wrong. So we are having our practically completed inspection without a practically completed house This might be normal but I'd think not..... Have you got the engineers report & costings back yet? Hope we don't find that our land agent had a compaction certificate for ours..... otherwise there might be some kicking.... stamping and more than likely a lot of swearing coming from our corner. Got Engineers and costing back! The whole excercise still stinks to high heaven, but at least we're moving forward. Revised footings cost an extra $2500, which is alot better than $13000! Essentially when we started digging for compactions certificates (pun intended), the guy at our Builder's started sweating a bit, and within a day or two after sending through the first certificate we found, he responded with "Some other builder's have been having issues in your estate, and our engineers have been out on the estate doing some other work, so we now know what type of soil you have and we can proceed." That is 100% rubbish in my opinion, nothing about it ads up. I even contacted my neighbour who is 98% completed, and he said he had no issues at all, and said it sounded really *******. And i've partially reviewed the engineers reports and they only contain one compaction certificate, and whilst the overview mentions a couple of layers of fill, there's no other mention of any issue with it or requiring extra surveying or certificates. Selections this week is the good news!! Can't wait to see photos of your completed abode! PCI done!!! Hand over..... soon 117Sep 29, 2010 9:51 am So happy for you Building Aimlessly! We are in the same boat as you in that we are going to wait until we move in before getting blinds/curtains etc but have picked carpets already. Hot tip is thatif you are wanting curtains before Xmas, get onto it ASAP as many of the fabric suppliers and makers have cut off dates very soon (if not already). We checked around but decided to wait until we move in so we can see the colours of the wall etc with the carpet. It means that we will probably go 3 months without window coverings but oh well! Hope the neighbours dont mind a nude streak through the kitchen every now and then! Rockabilly Kid - well done for pushing through and querying everything. Builders will try everything to squeeze every cent out of you if they can! Now you can spend the extra money on things you really need! ------------------------------------------------------ Handover: 14 December 2010 Current: Putting in plants! Nice thought, though we weren't going to be able to get that $13000 anyway, it was threatening to kill the build all together, so it's just a relief to be going ahead!
