Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 31, 2010 11:41 am Hi all, I'm a newbie here, but have followed some of the threads here. I paid a deposit on a land and so far some parts went somehow wrong. Problem is that I was today at the site to check out how far the progress is of the development release and noticed that the driveway was on the wrong side. I called the developer and told them the problem, now they ask if I got any approval of it. I talked with them about it before I signed the contract and they said it's OK. I also got the approval from the developer for the house design including driveway. Am I in my rights to demand a change without extra costs? Any answer is welcome. Re: Driveway build on wrong side 2Jan 31, 2010 11:46 am Providing you went down the right channels to have the cross over moved in the first place, and have the documents to back it up, then I cant see why it would be an issue for them to remove the existing cross over and create one on the opposite side of the property. Re: Driveway build on wrong side 3Jan 31, 2010 12:11 pm As Erin said, you're going to need some evidence. If you didn't get approval in writing at the time of your discussions, you may not have a leg to stand on. We did the same thing as you, but we filled in a form requesting the change when we signed our contract to buy the land. Make a fuss about it and point out that they approved your house plans with no proviso re your having to move the crossover or pay any extra to have it done. Hopefully, they'll play nice.
