http://www.cosmo.com.au/property/index.cfm?Type=1 Going to go have a look at their display home (The Renmark 52) in Cambden today. Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 2Aug 05, 2007 11:58 am That is one impressive BIG house. The storage upstairs is amazing and I love how the laundry and kitchen are all organised together. Starting price doesn't seem too high either. I wonder if that includes the verandah? Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 3Aug 05, 2007 12:54 pm Hey Cookie,
We've looked at Cosmo and spoken with their MD - I think they're trying to market themselves as a bit more upmarket - but still a project builder. I'm not a fan of the Renmark 52 - the house is just too shallow - I prefer longer/deeper homes and I feel there's a lot of wasted space upstairs - all these strange voids and storage rooms in nooks and crannies. Upstairs almost felt a bit claustrophobic. On the other hand - I visited one of their displays at Pemulway - a tiny house (maybe 24 sq) but it felt huge inside and so much better designed. Ask them about the modern facade for the Renmark - it was a new thing they were drawing up for a client last time we were there - looked similar on the outside to their design called the Republica (due to open Rouse Hill later in the year). Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 4Aug 05, 2007 9:30 pm I have seen their display in Camden and while the house is huge and impressive, I found it a little over the top for my liking. The master bedroom with walk in robe and ensuite was as big as a suite in a city hotel.
I am keen to see the Republica at Rouse Hill though. The plans make it look quite appealing. J. Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 5Aug 06, 2007 9:35 am Well we had a look at the Renmark 52 on Sunday and we absolutely loved it!
Our block is as wide as it is long.. so the overall shape of the house is great for our needs. We loved the location of the kitchen. We loved how you can't see the stairs at all from the front door. Good for Feng Shui apparently. And we loved the master suite - the display home has a square set opening which enables you to look out over the lounge room and into the kitchen downstairs. And the kids get proper sized bedrooms!1 And the storage areas are HUGE. Starting price for the Renmark 52 is $253,150. However the displayed facade with the verandahs adds another $41k!! And thats in face brick.. not rendered. However on our block, we wouldn't be able to fit the side verandah anyway, so were told that would probably save us $10k or so. Yep, starting to get pricey. The saleswoman did mention that other facades were available, including a modern one, but she didn't have prices there with her. There is also a Renmark 41 available which starts at $235,880. Long story short... we liked it so much we've ordered a site inspection and initial tender. Depending on site costs and basix requirements the Renmark 52 could come within our price range. Heres hoping! Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 6Aug 06, 2007 9:40 am Hey Cookie - great to hear that you had success!
From memory, the modern facade I saw was on a Renmark 41 - and I think they mentioned a price of about $10k for face brick. Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 8Aug 06, 2007 11:00 am You can never have too much storage! I really like the plan.....good luck with it all!
I still can't believe how affordable double storey homes are to build in the Eastern States compared to Perth...which I imagine is to do with the double brick construction! Not fair I want a big mansion like that!! Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 9Aug 06, 2007 11:19 am ![]() That is one impressive BIG house. Thanks for the info.. How did it look? Similar in style to the Republica - very groovy - I wouldn't recognise it as the same house. Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 11Aug 06, 2007 11:54 am Sounds promising. I like the Republica facade. Thanks.
I'll chase it up next time we meet with them. Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 12Aug 06, 2007 4:46 pm Hi Coookiemonster
I love the houseplan - looks absolutely fantastic and I can see why you would love it. I too am a fan of storage! Can I ask you a question about the upstairs bathroom configuration - if you can remember - was it good? Did the layout work like that, because we are looking to do something similar (I have been looking at hundreds of floorplans for a bathroom/toilet/separate shower design like this)? Interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks Kate Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 13Aug 06, 2007 6:28 pm I liked the bathroom layout. I think it's called a 3-way bathroom. And the shower is massive! The ensuite shower is huge too.. the display home having dual shower heads and taps.. a $630 upgrade.
The Renmark 41 (the smaller version) has a more conventional bathroom layout and it doesn't appeal to me as much. Horses for course I suppose. Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 14Aug 06, 2007 6:36 pm This is a very different house ![]() A toilet near the entrance? Could be very handy when you get older (as we can't move fast) One question though... How easy is it to go to the kitchen from upstairs? Do you need to come all the way to the front and then go back? It might be better if you move that internal garage door to the Living area. Having also looked through this house I can certainly say that looking at the drawings will not do it justice. Comsopolitan should add a virtual tour to their web site as this really is the only way to appreciate the house. J. Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 17Aug 06, 2007 10:30 pm Mark,
Maaaaaaaaaaate!! Love it! Even the special wall deserves a mention: "Dad, why did they build the dwarf wall?" "It was built by Emperor Cookie to keep the dwarves out! Too many dwarves in Marks house..." Re: Cosmopolitan Homes, Sydney 18Aug 07, 2007 8:14 am ![]() Mark, Maaaaaaaaaaate!! Love it! I like the verandah idea and the special living room design. I left some comments on your blog: 1. Is the roof in colourbond as shown from their web site? Are you upgrading that? 2. How do you get into that attic room hidden behind bed 2's robe? That's a very interesting design... I can't check my blog from work.. it gets blocked. Will check you comments tonight. Quote: Is the roof in colourbond as shown from their web site? Are you upgrading that? Colourbond roof is a $7k upgrade. Budget is already stretched so we'll probably leave it as tile. Quote: 2. How do you get into that attic room hidden behind bed 2's robe? That's a very interesting design... At the back of the bedroom robe there is a 3/4 height door to access that storage area. It's kinda like a secret area. My son will probably hide his girlfriends in there. He's already laid claim to that room. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 8959 Maybe.
