Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 28, 2010 2:41 pm My family is looking to knock down our current home and rebuild a new home on our narrow land. We're completely new to building and would like to how much would you guys say I'd need to add to the base price of the new home to get a rough estimate of how much we're spending? I know it does depend on a lot of different factors but would like a very rough idea. I'm mainly concerned of costs to knock down? Our current home is a 3 bedroom fibro house. I'm currently looking at the Jandson Homes 4 bedroom cosmo home with base price is roughly $130,000. Any tips and suggestions on where I can read on building newbies? I'm mainly concerned financially and would appreciate all help given. Thanks in advance!!! Re: Extra costs in building a home + cost to knockdown? 2Jan 28, 2010 3:57 pm We are also knocking down one of our properties and it sounds like it's similar to your Fibro/3 Bedrooms. So FYI the average quote we have got for demolition is $13,000. In regards to the cost of building a Project Home, I have found that most people building through these Builders say you should always add atleast 30% ontop of the base price for all your upgrades that you may want to have. Don't under estimate the costs so be ready to spend around $200k for home and demoliton imo. Thats all the info I can offer atm lol.
