So many choices in materials and looks. Remember you house is for your taste, but be careful with permanent fixtures that are stylish now but could devalue the house in 10 years. Re: Robinred's New House, LOCKED OUT! 433Nov 03, 2010 6:20 pm Hi Cooped, it should be relaxing. We do it every year and love it. This year we've done it a bit later in the year and not as many could come but we always have fun. It will be good to see the river with more water in it. Hi Spa Matz, I agree with your regarding permanent fixtures in. We built our present house 19 years ago and discovered what dated and what didn't. Our tiles in the living area were an excellent choice and have worn the years well. The one thing I'm looking forward to is a new kitchen. Also, I've resisted putting much in the way of vertical stripes feature tiles in bathrooms but at the end of the day you have to love what you choose since you'll be living with it for a long time. Re: Robinred's New House, LOCKED OUT! 435Nov 03, 2010 6:52 pm Hi Jessie, No further with curtains and blinds. However we did find a dining room set, entertainment unit, coffee table etc. I'm so excited because I've had my MIL set from the 60's for years. To go into a shop, pick out what I like is an unusual experience. Mind you we haven't ordered it yet. BTW, your place is amazing. You must be so thrilled. I hope you are feeling happier soon. This build has brought out the depression in me too. I have never felt so unsettled, and like I don't belong. I can't wait til we have our house and turn it into a home. Congrats on picking your tiles. That's also great that you are getting a chance to buy new furniture. contract signed: Nov 09 Released to Construction: 23 Jul 10 Slab poured: 9 Aug 10 Frame completed: 30 Aug 10 Windows & Gutters: 7 Sep 10 Bricks: 15 - 23 Sep 10 Roof: 24 Sep 10 Gyprock: 20 Oct 10 Lockup: 25 Oct 10 Kitchen: 27 Oct 10 Tiling: 6 - 9 Nov 10 Painting: 17 Nov 10 Carpet: 30 Nov 10 PCI: 15 Dec 10 Handover: 17 Dec 10 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35943 Re: Robinred's New House, LOCKED OUT! 440Nov 04, 2010 4:48 pm Lucene, You've made my day. The way I've been feeling that's exactly the houseboat weekend I imagined ![]() Jessie, I'm so happy for you and Troy! ![]() Carlswill, depression is one of my enduring vulnerabilities left over from my 6yo son's death now 25 years ago. The long hard winter takes it's toll and the stress of building hasn't helped. Believe it or not I work as a counsellor but I'm not much good at treating myself. Dee, months ago I tried to get somewoman to adopt me and she wasn't willing so I'm wondering if you would adopt me? It would be so much more fun at your place then mine. I'd try really, really hard to be good and not eat and drink too much ![]() I bought a new quilt cover set for our bed at the new house not to mention fabric to make some quilts. I've got plenty to keep me busy and I'm glad we aren't moving until after Christmas. Thank you all for your support.
