Also saw it as a good opporunity to meet people building in the area. My girlfriend and I are building the Infinity by Commodore Homes in New Haven Estate Piara Waters. We Signed Pre-lim building contract on the 12th of Dec and Settled on the Block on the 13th of Jan just waiting on the Builder to book our pre-start date (looking like end of Feb). We havnt changed the plan too much only really amendend it to suit our Corner Block and to comply with Covenants. Feel free to comment or ask questions and I look forward to keeping this thread up to date as the build progresses. Fingers Crossed its as smooth as some of the Commodore Homes builds on here. Cheers

So after waiting to hear something from Commodore since before chrissy we got impatient and decided to bombard them with emails to check progress almost every other day and up untill now the story was the same "still being drafted" but finally a different response "your drawings are finished" however we informed them of a few discrepencies with the render extents so no doubt be an additional few weeks then should be *fingers crossed* sent out for council approval. Any ideas how long this takes? i read from one response to the same question on another thread 10 weeks ?? seems a bit excessive but patience is a skill i have yet to master. Also it turns out my girlfriend is close friends with the people who will be doing our siteworks so that is a pleasant surprise atleast hopefully we wont be ripped off. Hey Booque, what stage of the build are you at? and where are you building? Should start a thread like me When we signed with the builder we were told the Infiniti was a Promotional Design just for the month however apon signing the preliminary contract turns out they might hang on to it a bit longer as it was a pretty successful promotion. I had looked at a few designs from HBC and Affordable living but as soon as i saw the Infiniti i knew it was what i wanted. The only changes i made were, removing render and colourbond roof (call me old fashioned but i much prefer Brick and tile - the credits back were a bonus), and they had to shrink the house to fit on the corner block but did in such a way that you dont notice the loss. Had the Slab laid two weeks ago. Dont be afraid to ask them questions, i was emailing and calling almost every second day before prestart asking if I could do this and that...must of been annoying but they were pleasant and responded within 24hours with the reply. Prestart was fantastic...I thought them to reasonably priced and not pushy at all - told them i had limited budget and they helped me stick to it and suggested things i hadnt thought of that were worth it and any colour schemes that didnt really go together. A rough timeline to date for has been as follows Contract signed mid August 09 Land settled Mid October 09 (Keystart delays) Prestart early November 09 Slab down 15 Jan 2010 (was supposed to be 21 Dec 09 but didnt get steel mesh in time) Look forward to following your build...hope everything runs smoothly Building "DOMAYNE" through COMMODORE HOMES in Pearsall WA Slab down 15-01-2010 Handover 16-06-2010 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=29049 Re: Infinity - Commodore Homes in New Haven Piara Waters 14Jan 30, 2010 10:48 pm I am building in Hocking. Land settled a couple of weeks ago, so I guess it will around 8 weeks before the slab is down. When that happens, things will move along quickly I hope. I really liked the fact that they weren't pushy too. One of my few complaints though was that our pre-start lady (she has since left) didn't go through the electricals very thoroughly with us. She never discussed tv, network points or gas points with us, it was fortunate we got some conduit to the living room wall or we wouldn't have been able to get a tv point there later because its an internal wall. Also we don't have a light switch at the end of the hallway where we enter from the garage. Other than that she was really helpful, our pre-start only took 3 hours. I was a bit unsure about the Technika appliances, I've heard mixed reviews but I really like our oven, I'm glad we upgraded to the bigger one. Our floorplan was a promotional one too (the victory) but unfortunately it didn't come with all the extras they are offering with the Infinity - flooring, blinds, air-con, rendered elevation. Matt - do you know what brand/model the air conditioning is? One thing that really bugs me is that our air conditioner (Coolbreeze 195) doesn't have temperature control, we can only adjust the fan speed . I looked on the manufacturers website and you can get controllers for our model aircon with temp control - I didn't know to ask for it. It may have cost a little extra but I think it would definatley have been worth it. Also, they may be able to "zone" the air conditioning, so you can just have it in the living area, or front rooms rather than the house at the same time. That's another thing I didn't know to ask about at the time! Re: Infinity - Commodore Homes in New Haven Piara Waters 16Feb 01, 2010 8:28 pm Hey Shell, yeah looking forward to prestart its really the only thing left for us to do before its all in the builders court. Il definatly have to make mension at prestart of the tv points as we were hoping to have our tvs on internal walls so will definatly need conduits to those locations. We signed with the builder on the original Infiniti package before they put all these extras in however as our sales rep advised us when we signed up builders give nothing for free its all smoke and mirrors in marketing i did the calcs and the "extras" you get you actually pay for in the price hike so not worried, was planning on organising air-con myself after handover anyways have my eye on Advantage air Zone 10 system. looked at the intelligent air gen III but after getting a ball park quote saying the starting price was $15,000 i promptly looked to the similar zone 10 probably same price but i think il get a quote later down the track. Am a little scared as we havent decided on render colour roof etc we were going with artist ink shingle profile but know thinking stellar might be better but then matching gutter and facia i have no idea. we actually got the plan through wa housing c , and process took ages we signed prelim in oct. would love to know how your prestart goes good luck check my thread out http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28326 Re: Infinity - Commodore Homes in New Haven Piara Waters 19Feb 12, 2010 3:22 pm Hi - re the CoolBreeze aircon I spoke to an installer who said the fancy controller was only $120 extra to upgrade, however he said that he recommends the simple controller as it fine for most people. He said the main benefit was being able to have the aircon switch on at a certain time. I don't think the controller upgrade will give you different zones etc. Re: Infinity - Commodore Homes in New Haven Piara Waters 20Feb 13, 2010 7:46 pm belvedere Hi - re the CoolBreeze aircon I spoke to an installer who said the fancy controller was only $120 extra to upgrade, however he said that he recommends the simple controller as it fine for most people. He said the main benefit was being able to have the aircon switch on at a certain time. I don't think the controller upgrade will give you different zones etc. No the zones would be a seperate thing, looking at the website I'm not even sure it can be done with the coolbreeze model but I would have considered upgrading to one that does for energy efficiency. Hmm... I wonder if I can still upgrade to the other controller. Its a personal thing, the limitations of the simple controller really annoy me but it may not be an issue for some people. I think the important thing is to research everything (I mean everything, from air-cons to hot water systems to insulation etc) so you know what your options are. A lot of these things I never looked into at the time, had I known all my options I would have done things differently But you live and learn, my next house will be perfect down to the very last detail I ended up going with 'Andrew Belic Construction Co.' https://www.instagram.com/andrewbelicconstruction/ 2 59675 Hmmm, I have checked your past posts and it seems that you are in NSW, not WA as I had thought. It pays to show your State in your avatar. Retaining wall regulations… 5 7861 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 35329 |
