Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 26, 2010 9:14 pm Hi everyone, we have decided to build the Lexington 993 Q1 with Henley (minimum 16 metre front) with the Edison Facade (large porch & verandah). What type of doors do you recommend for the study and theatre room (ie. solid door with stained finish, etc), and what flooring type (carpet, tiles, timber) is better to use?
Re: Henley Lexington 993 Q1 with Edison Facade 2Jan 26, 2010 9:29 pm Congratulations on your decision to build the Henley Lexington, it's a beautiful house. There's a few people in this forum building different versions of the Lexington. Do a search (feature top right) for "Lexington" and I'm sure you'll get a heap of results. All I can say is... if there's changes you want, just continue to ask, and ask and ask, until you get what you want. Sometimes the first answer can be a lazy 'no' because they can't be bothered with the changes! Just persist if they are changes you want, and hopefully they'll accommodate them! Re: Henley Lexington 993 Q1 with Edison Facade 3Jan 27, 2010 8:35 pm Hi Aaron & Erin,
Thanks for your advice. Our sales consultant is fantastic. She contacted Head Office for confirmation, and we received approval to build the Lexington 993 Q1 with the Edison Facade as requested. Great news for both of us, we are so excited. Now, we have our dream home with the facade that we love. Re: Henley Lexington 993 Q1 with Edison Facade 4Jan 27, 2010 8:54 pm That's a fantastic result!!! Definately pays to be persistent Where abouts are you building? Re: Henley Lexington 993 Q1 with Edison Facade 5Jan 27, 2010 10:46 pm We are building in Mernda Villages, the area is fantastic. Our land is opposite parkland and bike / walking trails which is very scenic. It's also a great place to raise a young family, as everything is within walking distance from out block. BBQ's, playground equipment, lakes with ducks / wildlife, etc are so close to us. Re: Henley Lexington 993 Q1 with Edison Facade 6Jan 28, 2010 8:18 am Sounds lovely, we'll be your neighbour across the river in Doreen Re: Henley Lexington 993 Q1 with Edison Facade 7Feb 01, 2010 10:53 pm pdemarchi Hi everyone, we have decided to build the Lexington 993 Q1 with Henley (minimum 16 metre front), and would love to have the Edison Facade (large porch & verandah). However, we have been told that we can't select this facade with the Lexington 993 Series, as it can only be placed on the original Lexington Q1 (minimum 17 metre front). Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know why the Edison can't be built with the Lexington 993 Q1? If anyone is building the above house with the Edison Facade, what suburb are you building in, and do you have any advice on who to speak to about getting this facade? Also, has anyone converted the study into a kids retreat, and if so, what kind of doors were used to close off this area (ie. sliding, standard, etc), and what flooring type (carpet, tiles, timber) was selected? Has anyone gone with the Butlers pantry option, and is it worthwhile? Hi there, We are also building the Henly Lexington 993, but we are building the Q2. We are going with the standard Broadway facade so didn't encounter any of the problems that you did but great to hear that you got the one you were after! We are adding doors to the study, as it is just the two of us for now but with the thought that later down the track it can be converted into a kids retreat. They are double doors, we haven't chosen what kind or type yet, that will be done at our colour appointment next month. I am thinking something with a glass feature, but not too sure yet! We are going with their flooring which is the timber laminate and carpet. I have found the price good, and had a little look at the products. I think we will upgrade the carpet though. Also the Q2 comes with the butlers pantry standard which was one of the things I liked about it!! Have you made any changes to the floor plan, or added anything on? Very excited to have another Lexington to follow!!! Bek I'm back Re: Henley Lexington 993 Q1 with Edison Facade 9Feb 01, 2010 11:30 pm What stage of Mernda are you building in? There's quite a few around here in Mernda and over the river in Doreen. Mernda is a very nice area. We almost bought in stage 22 I think (The one being released in April). I'll be building later in the year just down the road in Beveridge (Still the only one on this forum as far as I'm aware though ) Has your land titled yet? As for the doors, you'll want a pretty thick door for your theatre room - especially if you're getting loud/powerful speakers. What you're watching/listening to in there might sound fantastic to you, but the rest of the house might not want to hear it. As for carpet, are you referring to the theatre room itself or the whole house? If you're meaning theatre, I'd definately go with carpet. It's the most absorbant of all the flooring materials, so you're not going to have sound bouncing off and overall you'll have a better sound treatment...on top of the fact it's a hell of a lot more comfortable hehe Land Deposit - 18/12/2009 Became a land Baron - 21/12/2010 Site Start - 27/1/2011 All moved in!! Re: Henley Lexington 993 Q1 with Edison Facade 10Feb 02, 2010 7:45 am Lexinton, great house well done on your choice. We are building a Lexington at Heritage Springs. Frame is up and the roof tiling completed, just waiting for brickies to start. Our house is the Q1 with the theatre room, butlers pantry and a triple garage. I hope you guys are excited as we are with the selection. Re: Henley Lexington 993 Q1 with Edison Facade 11Feb 02, 2010 7:53 am Sorry I didn't answer your questions... We have tiled all through the house minus bedrooms and theatre room, top quality carpet will be layed as HH won't allow until after handover. Glass doors look fantastic, however, we have selected timber with inlays. There are positive and negatives with both. Being a theatre room the additional light from the glass doors can be a drawback.. Timber doors provide the block out, however if kids are involved total privacy may not be a good thing (experience with my 20 year old). From a total cosmetic outlook, timber doors matching the timber sliders look stunning. It is all about $$$$. We plan to revisit the timber door issue after handover, there is a vast array of doors available a lot cheaper and greater selection than HH has on offer. Re: Henley Lexington 993 Q1 with Edison Facade 12Feb 02, 2010 11:49 am pdemarchi Hi Bek, our house will be exactly the same as the Lexington 993 Q1 display at Mernda Villages, including the alfresco. I was after a grand theatre room as well, but missed out as the house would have exceeded 60% of the land block. We have a 512 metre block (16 metre x 32 metre). I haven't been out to the one at Mernda but I am hoping to head out there this weekend to get some colour ideas! It's a great idea to add the alfesco onto the Q1. Has your block settled already? When are you starting to build? You will have to keep me up to date with all your progress and pics! Have you done your colours yet? murray&jan Lexinton, great house well done on your choice.
