Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 24, 2010 5:20 pm HI, My wife and I want to build on a block we have in Perth, WA. We want to build a double story home. Our block is narrow but not too narrow to build on. The thing is, I have heard so many horror stories that I have become tentative about making a decision on which builder. I have met with reps from APG Homes, webb brown, Invogue....... The reps all seem honest, interested and quite helpful, but I believe once they have signed you up you are in the hands of the builder and the supervisor, etc. Can anyone please share their experiences with these builders (or other builders) from beyond the sales with us? Cheers. Re: Help with Building New Home 2Jan 24, 2010 5:36 pm Welcome Chris How wide is your block? I work for my builder (Summit) and we/they have another division called Lifestyle Homes. I know they build 2 storey homes... pretty nice looking ones too I am not telling you this because I work for them, honestly if I thought they weren't good builders I would not suggest them to you. The ones you mentioned seem to be from the same mob hehe, so nice to have a dif builder to compare to I guess. Just weigh up the pros n cons of the dif builders and plans, if you are unsure of the specifics of things, make sure you ask or you may be up for a surprise later on. Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Block is 13/30, I have not checked lifestyle homes yet. I was thinking Invogue is part of the JWH group. Along with Plunkett, Residential Attitudes, Oswald Homes, The Rural building company, Metrostyle, Renowned Homes, Ceiling Force Re: Help with Building New Home 4Jan 24, 2010 6:11 pm Yup sorry, didn't mean Invouge.. I guess you only mentioned 3 companies.. 2 are from the same mob I guess with most plans, you could possibly squish them in a lil to make them more suitable for the block. Some plans tho you can't really do that without wrecking it As for the sales reps.. it's pretty much true, they deal with you, some being honest, some not so much, then you only figure that out after you've signed up. But really, once you have signed up it normally goes on to the drafting team and all that and the sales rep doesn't know what it's up to. So this is why you make sure you ask every single question before you sign.. it can be hard to make adjustments without having to pay a variation fee if you have signed. If you have specific needs for your house/home, make sure you address these to the sales guy/girl, they should be willing and happy to accomodate your needs, likes and dislikes.
