I made up a checklist for each room based on someone elses from a previous thread (tried to search but couldn't find it sorry). This was one of my bedroom ones: Bedroom 1 Windows Windows open/close properly Windows aren't scratched or have paint marks Windows have key locks and they work Flyscreen are ok Doors Doors opens/closes properly Door handle is the correct type Door stopper is installed Walls/Ceilings Paintwork is ok No scratches in plasterings Cornices are ok Lighting Light turns on Light is in the right place Light switch is in the right place Powerpoints Powerpoints work Powerpoints are in the right place WIR No gap behind shelf Rail is installed Bathrooms: Doors Doors opens/closes properly Door handle is the correct type Door stopper is installed Walls/Ceilings Paintwork is ok No scratches in plasterings Cornices are ok Lighting Light turns on Light is in the right place Light switch is in the right place Powerpoints Powerpoints work Powerpoints are in the right place Vanity Cupboards open/close properly Cabinetry is ok Taps work Hot tap is hot, Cold is cold Water drains away Tiling is not chipped Shower Shower door opens/closes Glass is not scratched Shower taps work Hot tap is hot, Cold is cold Tiling is not chipped Other Exhaust fan works Toilet flushes Toilet roll holder is installed Towell rail is installed Chrome floor drainer things ok We just went through and methodically checked everything off. One thing I forgot to put on there was cracks/dents in plasterwork and cracks in the slab. I would take a cloth or something with you, the builders "clean" is atrocious, we needed to wipe some bench tops down before we could tell if they were actually marked or just dirty. Filling up the bath tub and standing in it to make sure its been fitted correctly and then letting the water drain away. Taking a light bulb to check light fittings and a plug in light to check powerpoints.
