Browse Forums Building A New House Re: HELP! Advise on bathroom tiles that has been laid! 21Feb 03, 2010 6:30 pm Well it's unfortunate that the tiler didn't plan a proper job. KNowing that it required a slight tilt, should have had the hob meet the tile in the middle instead of the end. That way it wouldn't be obvious. Don't you just hate it when SS tells u 'they all do it this way'. There must be a school for them to tell clients the same line. I guess if u wan to be nasty u can always get them to retile, else refuse payment. Other than tt, I would put a few bottles of shampoos and conditioner to hide it! My 2 cents worth. weblog: http://www.smoobox.com.au/blog/ 24/07/09 - Siteworks 03/08/09 - Slabwork Done 25/08/09 - Brickwork Done 30/09/09 - Roof Done 29/10/09 - Locked Out! Re: HELP! Yes hazzarama i agree. well bad planning by the tiler i guess. Ya everything i ask they say the same thing! This time for the floor tiles am gonna argue! i paid for it to be laid professionally. Hehehe..yeah i guess thats what we would be doing.... hiding it with bottles but i hope that tilt will not slide the bottle off! it shouldn't. I always thought it would be 1 - 2 degree tilt! but hey lesson learnt! If your are having hobs make sure you specify the degree tilt. maybe even add in that you expect the tiles to be laid evenly and close. Re: HELP! Advise on bathroom tiles that has been laid! 24Feb 04, 2010 1:34 am We have a hob too but I don't remember having a tilt. I remember 'cause we had some water sitting on it. But it's not a big drama, it dries off in no time. Will double check when I get to go in next. We made sure we were present when the tilers came in, which was a good thing as they had tiled the floor with a weird layout and we requested it to be relaid. As the cement was still wet, they could take it off quite easily. haha...Ang Bow doesn't apply down under... heh..besides..it's the elder giving the younger... which issit?? where are u building and with whom by the way? weblog: http://www.smoobox.com.au/blog/ 24/07/09 - Siteworks 03/08/09 - Slabwork Done 25/08/09 - Brickwork Done 30/09/09 - Roof Done 29/10/09 - Locked Out! Re: HELP! Advise on bathroom tiles that has been laid! 25Feb 05, 2010 3:06 pm G_girl Zedman Yes the lipping looks bad. Is that lipped tile near a drain...? As some inexperienced tilers find it harder to get a fall with a larger tile and can lead to bad lipping if the layout isnt planned right. Not that that is a problem with 300x300...any bigger than 330's then it is not possible. Unless there is sizing in the tiles, there is no need for such a larger joint and it being irregular. Also if the same tile is on the wall there joints should be uniform. As long as its the exact same tile from the same batch. Cheers Charlie Hi Charlie, Well one is near the drain and the other isnt...but those are just 2 shots. There are other areas around the ensuite with the same issue and its not near the drain. Yes the tiles are the exactly the same from the same batch. So is it arguable with the supervisor to have it redone you think? Heyy..i spoke to the SS and he has agreed to redo the tiles where the lipping is bad. however he seems to think that the distance for between the tiles are crucial because it has to slop towards the waste drain. I have spoken to the tile shop and they said it can be done close.
