Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 23, 2010 7:38 pm Hi Everyone. We have made plenty of changes to the original floorplan and came up with the attached. We just have a couple more things for the builder to change but you will see the general idea. If anyone has any suggestions/ideas they would be appreciated. Thank you. Just a couple of remarks and I realize these things are personal. But a 2 way bathroom at the back with a separate powder room, toilet, shower and bath was important to us for flexibility. So you could consider this. Also you might not have room but 2 basins in the ensuite was important to us after 16 years of me running to the back bathroom to do my make-up etc. I love all the cupboards you have. (I'm a bit green really). Good luck Handover February 2011 Happy with our home Re: Our Floorplan...does anyone have any suggestions/comments? 3Jan 23, 2010 8:54 pm What a great plan! I'm extremely envious of your storage space! ...and your WIR!!! Love it all! Re: Our Floorplan...does anyone have any suggestions/comments? 4Jan 23, 2010 9:00 pm Very cool!!! Just wondering what the "void" is near the entry/lounge area... If there is space for it, I'd consider putting in a coat closet there. It looks a lot bigger than the usual void for central heating intakes and the likes, so I'd make it usable space... Great plan but I noticed this too. I hate wasted space when you pay so much. I would be making it a cupboard either for coats, shoes or brooms...whatever, Im sure you will find a use for it. I'm just wondering how wide is the alfresco? What's between the theatre and study? I can't help thinking the kitchen would be even better without a doorway/thoroughfare through it (personally I'm not keen on internal access anyway, we rented a place and it always seemed a bit "garage-smelly" near the connecting door but I know for some people the convenience of bringing the groceries straight in is really important so that's an individual thing). Love all the walk in cupboards. I'm imagining that it will have great street appeal with that portico. Re: Our Floorplan...does anyone have any suggestions/comments? 7Jan 24, 2010 8:10 am There is only one thing that I dont like and that is the one angle wall on the games room. i dont know why but when you have a house that is all square and straight and then have one angle wall, makes me not like it as much, probably just a personal thing but thought i would throw it out there Re: Our Floorplan...does anyone have any suggestions/comments? 8Jan 24, 2010 8:47 am Great plan. Make that 3 votes for changing the void into a recess or coat cupboard if you can afford it. Also maybe switch the location of the fridge and benchtop (next to the WIP). It will give you more bench space next to the cooktop. Re: Our Floorplan...does anyone have any suggestions/comments? 9Jan 24, 2010 8:57 am What a great plan Jess! but I do tend to agree with hoffdog with that angled wall. Make sure you look at the width of your storage shelves as this is something I regret doing when I was at the stage your at now. My shelving could have been at least 10cm deeper in my pantry and even up to 20cm deeper in my storage room. And 4 votes on the void (what purpose has a void got, and what is it actually for? I havent come across them before) How's your WIR? seriously -WOW!!!! Re: Our Floorplan...does anyone have any suggestions/comments? 10Jan 24, 2010 10:24 am great plan jess we are building commodore renegade with lots of modifications to it. we made lots of changes and are meant to sign today well yesterday but didnt turn up. check mine out we got rid of games room made bed 4 and alfresco bigger , with more storage and modified master ensuite and bedroom. so totally differnt househttp://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28326 Re: Our Floorplan...does anyone have any suggestions/comments? 11Jan 24, 2010 11:41 am Have you thought about a cavity slider from the garage into the kitchen, will save space and still allow you to utilise the bench/cupboards to the left if the door was open. Am envious of all the storage!! Re: Our Floorplan...does anyone have any suggestions/comments? 12Jan 24, 2010 12:20 pm very nice plan, i like it the only things that i would concider changeing to suit ME are the entry from the garage into the kitchen i would have it from the Garage into the Study & close off the opening between the Study - Theatre room the fridge space in the kitchen can be moved up to give more bench space as has already been said a double basin in the ensuite if you have the room move the man hole away from bedroon 2 door way move the sliding door on the games room to make it central with the wall i guess the angled wall is a result from making the meals area larger, this could be used as an advantage & with a large mirror on the games room side you could build a barr into this area as for the void if its for return air then it is used space otherwise put a door on it in the hall way or recess it in to make a neiche these are things that would suit me, fell free to use what you like but i thing the way you have it is great cheers rocket 2 6428 I am building Enfield 201 by Mimosa Homes - York Facade Link: https://www.mimosahomes.com.au/new-homes/enfield-201/ I did my colour appointment last week.
