Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 24, 2010 11:50 am Hi everyone!
I've been a visitor of this forum for a while but thought it is about time to start my own thread. I am building with Scott Salisbury Homes in the new estate of Lightsview in Northgate, Adelaide, SA. First, I'd like to say that I cannot commend Scott Salisbury enough on how helpful they have been through the entire build process. Their sales person was the most helpful out there, and I can definitely say that she really helped me with many points on the design of my house. I visited many display homes and spoke with many builders, and I can safely say that the quality of Scott Salisbury is amongst the best. Anyway, I am building my own design, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home. We are up to bricking stage. I know how much everyone enjoys photos, so please find them below. Look forward to your comments and providing you with regular updates. P.S. Many of the photos are courtesy of TamDaz! Thanks Tammy! Can I have some cabling advice? We are in an estate that has fibre optic cabling and the builder is connecting the conduit from the street to my house. What other cabling should I have as a minimum in the house? Is it something that can easily be done once the house is finished? Cheers Re: Building at Lightsview, Northgate, Adelaide, SA 4Jan 24, 2010 12:04 pm lightsview - looking great! You should get data points to your rooms done at the same time they do the first fix electrical. Otherwise I can imagine it would be a pain to try and feed cables through afterwards. We had dual points cabled to every bedroom in the house, we only have young kids, but we figure in 15 years time they can all have there own computer and phone line in there. We are going to get a VOIP, so the kids can all have there own numbers, we have the switch in our bedroom, and we can cable it so that one point is a data point and other a phone point. I've look at your house and it's very similar to the house that we're going to build. But i just feel so expensive with the price is now going up to nearly 300k. Could you let me know how much is yours? I know that it is still depend on a selection, but ours house standard is 270k already. thanks Re: Building at Lightsview, Northgate, Adelaide, SA 14Jan 30, 2010 11:11 pm Hi Thao, I've sent you a private message. Please read and respond. Thanks Re: Building at Lightsview, Northgate, Adelaide, SA 16Jan 31, 2010 5:28 pm Congrats Lightsview on making it down to your house in person. I've felt a little guilty about not going by recently, but things have really slowed up at our house so I'm not going by as often. It must have felt good to see it in person and have a wander through. Your colour selections sound great. They both look great and would equally suit your house being so modern. Personally I would choose the Sentinel only because I would be worried about whether the clear plastic in the other one would go cloudy or deterioriate in some way due to outdoor exposure over time.
