Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 22, 2010 11:55 am Hi everyone, Apparantly the hold up with ordering our garage door is that I have to sign a disclaimer stating that I accept the door may have oil canning I've done a bit of a Google search and think I have a hold on the idea of what oil canning is. I rang the door company 'Glideroil' to ask if they had a sample of a smooth finish that I could look at, or if there where any houses near me that had a smooth finish door. Apparantly only 5% of people ask for smooth finish doors so the short answer was No. Has anybody got a smooth finish panel lift door installed? Can you notice the 'oil canning' ? We are going with the Hampton design in Manor red. Re: Smooth finish Panel lift door - WTF is oil canning? 2Jan 22, 2010 12:08 pm Putting two and two together I have made an assumption on what oil canning is. It must be on smooth finish door where you see the shinning oil look where the door is not perfect. If you have the choice you are best to go for a textured finished. You door may look cheap with smooth finish and it will look imperfect when the sun in shinning on it. I would probably render it and then paint it as per your other advice, or gyrpock over the top. 1 3339 I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 1933 Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10971 |
