Our block is 406m2. Re: Our Perth Dream-Custom Built 2Jan 22, 2010 9:04 am Heh heh heh, people are very precious about these things But congrats on the land! Have you got the plans finalised? Single or double story? Re: Custom Built House Perth 4Jan 22, 2010 11:20 pm Yes have got planning approval of a 3 x 2 house with theatre, study nook, alfresco and a attic. Still waiting on building approval and tenant. Will post plans soon. After a very rocky start with a architect - we changed to a draftsman who was so fantastic he got us back on track when we were ready to give up and shelf our plans. Council has been a drama. Wouldn't approve our awning at the front of the house due to being too modern for the area. Said they have never seen one before. So we found one in our area and took photos. Off to the council we went, to say look you have a approved one. They came back and said BIG builder and green title lock, blah blah. So then we found another . And now they say oops put it in and we will handle it internally. Council 0 vs Us 1 When we first started to think about building a custom designed home a guy told us to allow 3 months for plans and council. Well we started in May 2009 and are not even there yet. Re: Custom Built House Perth 5Jan 23, 2010 7:14 pm I bet it will look gorgeous when its all done. The old house looks good there so the new one definitely will. Hope you can get some joy with the council. Look forward to following your build Kat Re: Custom Built House Perth 6Jan 23, 2010 9:07 pm I bet even though you are waiting forever for approval, in the years to come you'll forget it mostly and be so glad you have built the home you want rather than the one you compromised on Look forward to offering the landscape advice on this one when it's done Re: Custom Built House Perth 7Jan 23, 2010 9:49 pm Hey Jec Just wondering if you were building in the northern or southern suburbs? and how did you get on with Sexy floors? Re: Custom Built House Perth 9Jan 24, 2010 9:37 am A floor plan and elevation. House size is limited due to the block size 406m2. So we added the biggest alfresco we could get in as it's not counted as part of the 50% site coverage. We also have added a attic for storage and that is over the living/dining/kitchen area. House is in Lathlain Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Custom Built House Perth 10Feb 01, 2010 7:24 pm Love your plan Jec Ive been looking at compressed bamboo for our first floor flooring - went out to Z** Bamboo in Myaree and got quite a good quote for a full installation. They even offered a 25 year warranty which was quite fantastic. Builder is off to a crackering start, and had someone at the house doing the repeg on the Wednesday when the demo had only finished on the Saturday. 2 weeks since demo - slab is laid and have had window frames delivered. Today they have dug more footings for the boundary walls and the front wall. Bricky to start next week.
