Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 21, 2010 7:17 pm Hey Guys, Just got my final set of plans today and there's a couple things I want to change after the build is finished and just wondering if it's possible to do so...... Want to install the heat lamps in the bathroom/ensuite as there is only going to be a standard light globe in there. Just wondering If i do change the lights int he ceiling whats required? like re painting the ceiling etc?? and if anyone else has done it what kind of costs are there involved. Also got down lights in the mater suite 2 are hooked up to a main switch and the other 2 are to be controlled by switches/dimmers behind the beside cabinet, is it possible for an electirican to connect them to the main switch later on if it doesn't work the way I've got it? As it stands, once the house is built I have to install pendants and oyster lights in all of the rooms as the builder told me it's too expensive to use their ligthing selection and they only had a few anyway so i'd rather do it that way. But my biggest concern is heat lamps and whats involved to install them! Cheers, Re: Lighting/Heat Lamp question for after the build...... 2Jan 21, 2010 7:33 pm We had heat lamps installed to both our bathrooms (established house) & the electrician used existing light hole & also switch on wall was replaced with heatlamp switch, so you would never know they weren't there to begin with. No hassle or paint touch up needed at all. Regarding you other queries, I can't see why not but not too sure, a quick call to an electrician would have all your answers. I do this to get comparisons between getting builder to do (with their mark up) or waiting until we're in our new house & get it done privately.
