Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 02, 2007 1:21 pm Our excavation finally started this morning. We got landscaper on site and asked them to dig a bit more for the retaining wall at the back. And they want to charge me about $1,250 per cubic meter to dig and remove those soils.
Just like to know if that's a reasonable price, any one has experience on this? Any comments or suggestions please? Photos and details on my blog... Re: What's the reasonable price per cubic meter to remove soil? 2Aug 02, 2007 1:46 pm That cost seems a bit excessive.
An alternative may be to hire a rubbish skip ($200-$300 approx) and a bobcat for the day ($500 approx) and excavate to your hearts content after handover. Are you sure you can dump soils in those rubbish skip? Also, don't you need a license to drive a bobcat? Re: What's the reasonable price per cubic meter to remove soil? 4Aug 02, 2007 2:35 pm ![]() Are you sure you can dump soils in those rubbish skip? Yep, when you hire the skip just make sure you tell them what sort of waste your planning on putting in there so they know where to dump it. You generally can't mix waste types. Have a look here.. http://www.bookabin.com.au/?mt_typ=9060&source=g_au_locations/?q=sydney%20skip You can specify cleanfill waste skip for soil. Re: What's the reasonable price per cubic meter to remove soil? 5Aug 02, 2007 2:41 pm I plugged in my postcode and a 6 cubic metre bin for cleanfill waste for a week and got the following quote:

Wife just called, the figure quoted before wasn't correct. They are asking for $1,250 "in total", not per cubic meter. After some negotiation, agreed to pay cash and get all done with $1,000.... So for about 26 cubic meter of soil, that's about $38 each, including digging/cutting and removal... Sorry for the confusion... Re: What's the reasonable price per cubic meter to remove soil? 7Aug 02, 2007 3:03 pm That sounds much better. Re: What's the reasonable price per cubic meter to remove soil? 8Aug 02, 2007 4:12 pm Wife just called, excavation almost done and will definitely finish today! WOW, that's quick.
Also received confirmation from builder that they will do the concrete piers on Monday and we need to take day off from work to be on-site. Yeah! We will have piers very soon! Looks good. The joiner has come back with a quote of close to 5k. I think we are going to not do it. Attaching panelling is something they are dead… 11 6275 |
