Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 19, 2010 3:36 pm Hi All, We are building a new house with top of the range builders in Toowoomba Qld. We signed the building contract in September 09. Still waiting for them to start, should have started before Xmas. They said there has been some stuff up with the soil tests, did not say what the problem was. Is there anyone who has had similar issues with their builders? Thanks Raj Re: Soil tests stuff up? 2Jan 19, 2010 6:53 pm We're getting stuff-ups all the time. Be sure to follow up and get them do correct it. Otherwise they'll just time pass. Trying this building gig one more time. They said they will sort it out, hopefully not too long till they start now. My builder always says that but they're still really slow to sort things out. I've resorted with checking progress every day. That seems to help things along a bit. Also, don't be afraid to escalate things to managers if you feel you're not being heard. You're handing hundreds of thousands of dollars to them; the least they can do is sort stuff out in a timely fashion. Trying this building gig one more time. They don't seem to bother updating me, so I have also resorted to calling him for progress reports. Thanks I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13111 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37160 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair I'm in WA and our sandy soils make drainage a bit easier but this is what I'd be doing. Dig down to your footings and let the wall dry out. Clean it all well by brushing… 1 5197 |
