Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Slab this week - Celebration Homes 62Apr 09, 2010 3:10 pm Hi Guys! Sorry about the major delay in replying and also putting up a picy! Finally I have managed to get a photo of the house up - however this was taken last week and after a heap of work done over the Easter weekend and this week all our internal float is done inside and the render on the outside is done too. They had run out of tiles as you can see above the garage but we asked about it and I think the tilers were due back today or tomorrow to finish it off. Feeling a little bit better about the work that is being carried out now. Seems like with them working over the weekend has helped get us back on track! Now we are hanging out for lock up!! Im thinking end of April we may be locked up - hopefully anyways! Hare1 that is so great that your kitchen and bathroom cabinets are all in! Must be so hard not being able to go inside and have a look when its all locked up! Are you able to sneak in while they are there working? You will have to post some photos up soon!! Debs your place is zooming by too!! Have they put the windows in yet? I wonder when they will start the white plaster on your walls! So so exciting! You are right though, the amount of rubbish that gets thrown around site is disgusting! The guys have been using our cinema room as their lunch room - eating hungry jacks and kfc and just throwing the tomato they didnt want in the burger straight on the floor. I was so happy though when the grey float got done on the walls because they cleaned and swept up inside dramatically! Its still a bit of a tip outside with bricks and broken tiles and wood everywhere but at least inside is clean and hopefully our ant problem will stop too because we also have plenty - and they are huge!! I cant believe someone has dumped a mattress at your site Debs! Thats bad and in my opinion its Celebration's job to take it away. Im sure they will, it might take a while but at the end of the building process they want the place to be immaculate for you. Have you got anymore news on your garage door - I think they are being a bit cheeky with that too - its their problem they cant provide you with the one you wanted! I dont understand why there is a price difference either! Just because it is a variation? But its not a variation of your choice so it shouldnt even be considered! Well thats all I have at the moment! Im going to take more photos tonight and I will get them up sometime on the weekend! Looking forward to hearing from everyone soon! Rosie Re: Slab this week - Celebration Homes 63Apr 10, 2010 1:08 pm Your build is coming together nicely. I've been watching your build for a while now as we're building with celebrations too. Our slab was poured just before easter so we're a several weeks behind. BTW, your construction consultant's initials wouldn't be S.A. by any chance? Thanks for your message! We are really happy with our place so far and Celebration Homes have been FANTASTIC! We are so happy with the way the house is!! Congratulations on your slab!! I cant believe how fast its gone so far, our slab was poured on the 22nd January and two months late we had roof timbers! Good luck with everything, keep us updated on your progress And yes our construction consultants initials are S.A haha, she is great!! Is she yours too? Rosie Re: Slab this week - Celebration Homes 65Apr 10, 2010 2:31 pm I've heard mostly good reports about Celebration Homes, so I'm hoping our experience will be just as good. Just one thing, does S.A. send you updates on what is happening & when? Re: Slab this week - Celebration Homes 67Apr 11, 2010 3:05 pm I thought that may have been the case. Oh well, I guess I'll be emailing her tomorrow to find out when our bricking is scheduled to start. Anything more happen with your build last week? Our house was locked up last Monday which meant that when we went to see it at the weekend we had to look through the windows and doors to see what had been done, its all looking good so far though, all internal door have been hung, the walls etc have all been white washed, we have shelving in the laundry, pantry and the robes and our bath had been delivered, couldn't really see what was happening in the ensuite or bathroom though. We are meeting our building supervisor at the house on Thursday morning to have a lock up meeting, he said last week when I spoke to him that the cabinets should all be in by then and he gave an estimated completion date of end of May which he will confirm on Thursday, its all coming along so fast! One thing that we did notice though was that we had upgraded what we thought was all of our internal doors, but the door leading into the garage has not been upgraded, I guess that they dont class this as an internal door, it look pretty ugly especially as its next to the pantry doors which have been upgraded, I think I need to check that one with them! Hope all is well with your place Debs Re: Slab this week - Celebration Homes 69Apr 27, 2010 3:24 pm Hi Debs! Thanks for your message!! It seems our house is exactly a week behind your place, we are at lock up today. Although we havent been offered a lock up meeting yet, do you know the name of your site supervisor? Everything seems to be moving well though, I think our roof will finally be completed today. They hadnt finished the ridge capping properly but luckily it didnt effect our next stage. Wow end of May!! Yay that is great! Thats next month wow!!! Fingers crossed it all keeps zooming by for you - you will have to let me know how you go at your meeting on Thursday morning. We saw another Pavillion in Clarkson the other day, it looks like it is at the same stage as us roughly! Three in one suburb all at the same stage crazy!! A couple we know got their keys about a month ago so we went and had a look over the weekend at their place- beautiful!! It looks so so good. They did warn us on a few things to look out for at the prehandover meeting - for instance the kitchen sink mixers - really loose, litterally falling off the sink - another friend of mine from work has also experienced this at her new house built by Celebration. Chris and I are doing up a list from other peoples suggestions so we can cover everything at the final inspection. Keep us updated on your place, cant wait to hear how your meeting goes on Thursday! And definitely mention something about the doors - even if it isnt considered internal they surely should have suggested the change after you changed every other one in the house. Rosie Re: Slab this week - Celebration Homes 70May 12, 2010 12:00 pm Hi Rosie, Did you have your pre lock up meeting, are you near hand over yet? Ours was good, our building supervisor went through everything with us and he said that he expects that it will be completed before the end of May for us to move in early June, just waiting for him to contact us with a hand over meeting date, we went back a couple of days later and our tiler was in doing the bathrooms and laundry, its all looking good so far. We asked him about the rubbish on the site and he said that they are only responsible for an area round the build which does not even over the entire site let alone the verge out the front where all the rubish is, apparantly he has been in contact with the council to see if they will come and remove any rubish that has been dumped, I called the council too and they said thay they would come and have a look and if its not building materials then they will remove it, its still there at the moment though! We also have had a tin of paint or something spilt on the pathway near the skip, Celebration homes are not taking responsibility for that either, he reckons that it was not done by the builders so once again it is not down to them to get it removed, he said that he has spoken to the council about this too, but to me it looks like building material so I dont think they will do anything about it.....which means it will be down to us.....not very impressed!! Fingers crossed everything will go to plan and we will be in this time next month.....need to find out date pretty soon as we have to give notice on our rental place. Where abouts in Clarkson is the other Pavilion being built?? Could you send me your list of things to look at for the inspection meeting, I have come up with a couple of things but not really sure what to look out for, I can send you my email address if you like if its too big for this forum. Hope all is going well with yours Many thanks Debbie Re: Slab this week - Celebration Homes 71May 12, 2010 12:16 pm Debs and Rosie, Wow congrats to both of you for getting to this stage! I'm sure you are super excited! We have just signed our contracts and finished prestrart! looking forward to getting to ur stage!!! Do keep us posted with piccies!!!! Cheers Sara Building with Celebration homes SOR Perth [color=#BF00BF] Re: Slab this week - Celebration Homes 72May 12, 2010 3:27 pm Hi Debs! We had our lock up meeting today There have been a few delays with some things for us - apparently our Bobcat driver is lazy?!?! Hence the tip on our site and the garage floor not being poured yet. Also I think our original supervisor is on annual leave because we met with a different guy today who says he will be following through with us for the rest of the build. All is good in the house - except one thing - we extended our vanity in our ensuite to the bigger size but with only one basin (as I was more after bench space). Anyways at prestart our consultant asked us if we would like to change the 'swing' of the four vanity cupboard doors. As a standard they open with two in the middle opening outwards and one on each side. She told us we could have them opening with two on each side - I know this probably isn’t going to make much sense - so hard to explain without the hand actions. Anyway they haven’t done it as per our plan. I was whinging to a girl at work about it who has recently built with Celebration Homes and she only just realised they never changed hers either as per the plan. Turns out it is 'too hard' to do it the way we chose because having one basin is the support in the middle also for plumbing reasons. Its ridiculous though. Our supervisor said he would speak to the office about it but it will be a headache to change because the whole cabinet will need to be ripped out. Michelle at work is going through the proceedings of getting it all changed to how they wanted it but it’s not looking good. I guess it all comes down to the principle, they offered it to us like that, it says so on the plan and thats how we want it. So I guess we will have to see how that goes. Apart from that though everything is running so well. Our supervisor said in the next few weeks we should hear from the office to book handover! So that’s great. All the tiling has been done and when we were doing our inspection today lots of people rocked up for work so even more should be complete today Im very excited! I can literally say 'next month' we will get our keys (hopefully) I’m not happy to hear about the junk that has been dumped at your block - if it wasn’t for 'their' skip bin it wouldn’t have been dumped there - and the paint - how do they know it wasn’t one of their contractors who had done it by accident! Not good enough really! Yes we are getting together a list of things for the final inspection too, just things like tiling, cleaning. Also another friend of mine who got her keys last month suggested we ask for a 'second pre handover meeting' before signing for the keys pick up. The reason she suggested this is because they went around on the original handover inspection, gave a list of things they wanted sorted within the two weeks, signed for their keys - made their payment walked into their house and not one thing had been done. She said it might have been a one off but could be worth asking for a second inspection to make sure everything you wanted sorted actually does get sorted. The other Pavilion is near ours on ‘Wallis Avenue’! Can’t believe all three are at the same stage haha! I was meant to ask how did you go about your internal garage door being changed, you mentioned last time that it didn’t match your other internal doors which you upgraded? Sara congratulations on your prestart!! Very exciting! Did you enjoy it? How did your colour selections go? Enjoy every moment, it does go really really fast! Before you know it you will be at the lock up stage too! Rosie Re: Slab this week - Celebration Homes 73May 12, 2010 3:29 pm Debs - my email address is rosannehd@hotmail.com - send me your list and Ill show you what we have as well! Will be great to see your ideas! Re: Slab this week - Celebration Homes 74May 12, 2010 10:13 pm Hi Debs and Rosie Congrats on your lock-up meetings. Glad they have gone ok for you both. It's interesting Rosie what you said about the ensuite cupboards. We also extended the cupboards but left it as 1 sink but we weren't offered the door options. In hindsight we wish we would have put a set of drawers in, oh well the things we learn along the way. Hope you both have smooth sailing from now until the end. Its the same with the girl from my work, she had a completely different prestart consultant too and she was offered that change! Apparently they said it was a training issue! Oh well, we'll see what happens I guess Thanks Debs will have a look through your list!! You are so organised!! Rosie Re: Slab this week - Celebration Homes 77May 20, 2010 5:21 pm Hi Rosie, A quick question...did you ask for any plug sockets on your kittchen island? We have asked for a couple to be put on our upstand but they are now saying that they cant do it.....this has been discovered once the upstand has been put in place with the holes in it for the sockets! Just wondered if you requested any and where you put them? Thanks Re: Slab this week - Celebration Homes 78Jul 05, 2010 3:05 pm hi rosie just read on another thread that you have moved in to your new place!!! Very happy for you Do post some picccies!
