Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 19, 2010 11:47 am I have seen on a few occasions that a house 2 doors down has used power from my power box to power their tools etcc god knows how many times its been used when i wasn't there. Who covers the cost of that??? me personality or my builder? My house is around 80% complete on a new estate. His power hasn't been connected yet i don't think. Anyone have any thoughts on this ?? Cheers Newbie Re: Noticed another biulder using power from my power box!! 2Jan 19, 2010 11:52 am What they are building and don't have temp power? Yeh it happens bit. Contact the owner/builder and tell them power supply will cost $1.50/kw for the bill. Plus $50 per use. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... It is the responsibility of your builder. Tell them to deal with it or pay for it Re: Noticed another biulder using power from my power box!! 5Jan 19, 2010 12:02 pm Just building a 1 story home like me. Got no idea why their power isn't connected. I contacted my SS - he said " If I see them I'll ask them to stop using the power " come on!!!! This guy hasn't been interested from the start anyway Theres no way im paying for their electricity! I wasn't paying for the power so didn't really care! find out if you or the builder is paying the power bills, if it's the builder then it doesn't really matter 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Re: Noticed another biulder using power from my power box!! 9Jan 19, 2010 1:26 pm I wouldn't worry about it. It is not worth worrying about the few dollars of sparky juice they will use. Save your effort for the bigger isssues - and there WILL be bigger issues to worry about. Yeah ill have to find out what the story is! Newbie Re: Noticed another biulder using power from my power box!! 11Jan 19, 2010 1:31 pm i wouldnt worry to much . im currently building a new house and the power is billed to the builder , in my case m3tricon. they pay the bill right up till handover. when handover is complete the power is changed to your name. Re: Noticed another biulder using power from my power box!! 13Jan 19, 2010 1:53 pm How much power do you think they are able to suck down through an extension lead. It sounds like you have a small coal fired power plant on your property and they are stealing a few megawatts every hour. How much is your house costing? How much power are they taking while they wait for their supply to come up? Try to imagine that it's your house that has a holdup for some reason and you really need power or the tradies cannot get their work done. As long as I did not see this coming from my site pole, I'd consider doing the neighbour a favour, let them know when you see them next. Then enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling of nice.
