Scared and Oh so excited!!!!!!!!!!! Re: do you constantly second guess your choices???? 3Jan 18, 2010 8:38 pm Hi Makoby! Congrats! Do I second guess my choices? YES! All the time Especially when I see everyone's wonderful colour choices, new trends, new materials and trends from across the other side of Oz. But don't worry, you've already made the choice that you are happy with. Take another look at your brick and roof selection if you're still unsure, maybe ask around for someone on the forum to give you a picture of their house if it matches your selections Sit back and relax, you'll see HEAPS of inspiration from other people's houses that will make you second guess your own, but in the end you chose what you liked, and if worst comes to worst then consider your first build as a test run for the second, perfect one ;D I already have a list of things that I want in my current build, and a list for the next one whenever that comes in life Plus, many things are very easy to change down the track! Re: do you constantly second guess your choices???? 4Jan 18, 2010 8:41 pm I doubt that many people DON'T second-guess their colour choices and just about everything else about their house. It doesn't stop afterwards - there's window coverings, furniture, artwork and now I keep changing my mind about plants. Re: do you constantly second guess your choices???? 5Jan 18, 2010 8:47 pm Most people would second guess. It's a HUGE decision to make and you get one shot at it. It's only natural. I did, a million times. I think you need to choose, feel comfortable and then leave it alone, don't go back over it. You will only confuse yourself (I like I did) . Good Luck and have faith in yourself and what you like. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: do you constantly second guess your choices???? 6Jan 18, 2010 8:54 pm all the time, continually and still! I'm alone as Bill Bonner maybe it was just too much of Lifestyle Channel or too many years in delivering services and projects - but my mantra (and I fought wife's second choice movements relentlessly) is 90% planning and 10 implementation... More changes always translates to more expenditure and later these changes are requested more expensive it gets... We spent plenty of time deciding on everything and once chosen it was pretty much it. Yeah we missed a few minor things that will be easier to fix after the handover. The last change I did was changing my mind from blackbutt floors in favour of grey ironbark - however that part is done by myself and the deadline to decide is in April. Still have not decided on skirting boards... Will do later - a very least of my concerns so yeah, my recommendation will be to select what you like, consult excessively beforehand, then sign and forget - doing so will go easy on your walet and nerves ... built a Promenade with Clarendon. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=25104 20-10-09 - excavation and piering completed ... 12-04-10 - Basins fixed. I have my final colour selections in 2 weeks and have changed my mind hundreds of times, but the funny thing is that i have ended up going back to my original choices with nearly everything. Good luck! Re: do you constantly second guess your choices???? 10Jan 18, 2010 9:19 pm Yes all the time. Nightmares about them too. Haha! I had to confirm several times with the tiling place that they had my correct tiles! haha. Changed the carpet. The most difficult I think-up there with the bricks for me. Re: do you constantly second guess your choices???? 11Jan 18, 2010 9:25 pm We couldn't agree on a brick for weeks and weeks, and kept going back and forth. At the last minute the night before our colour selections I found some-ones house here on the forum that we liked so totally copied all there choices. We did however then go on to change the brick and roof tile after colour selections, so all we ended up copying was the garage doors and down pipes Somethings though you can't work out how they are going to work out and you find little things in your build that you go "ohh darn we should have changed this" or "bugger wish we had thought of that" There is someone here doing the same house as us who has changed the floor plan, I LOVE what she has done with the floor plan! I wish we had realised how much different the place could be by simply moving one of the bedroom doors! Re: do you constantly second guess your choices???? 12Jan 18, 2010 9:31 pm all the sand Yep! I have my final colour selections in 2 weeks and have changed my mind hundreds of times, but the funny thing is that i have ended up going back to my original choices with nearly everything. Good luck! I do exactly the same, I always seem to go back to my first choice. Thank God for H1! pinkdiamond I do and not because I don't love the colours we chosen but because I am worried they are just not gel together right like the vision in my head . I was thrilled with our living area colours when they went in. When we moved in.... not so sure. I know now that it's because our furniture is just all wrong, and that the new couches etc I'm planning on buying (and which I had in mind when I chose the colours) will really lighten things up. Unfortunately, that has to wait a bit longer. So even if you don't completely love your colours when you move in, just keep in mind that furniture and accessories can make an enormous difference, before you frantically start repainting. Re: do you constantly second guess your choices???? 16Jan 19, 2010 8:31 am We've been second guessing our choices all the time. We have our internal colours appointment coming up next week and in the process of getting prepared we went to M3tr!con's "Studio M" to have a look at things. We ended up spending most of our time second guessing our timber colours (doors and windows) and almost decided to change the stain colour. I think we just need to have confidence in our original choices and know we chose colours for a reason. Stefan Building the M3tr!con Liberty 42 at Stonecutters Ridge. Wasn't helped when i decided to a bit of photoshoping on our plans and colour the house in with my selections. But in the last day or so, i looked over what i had picked and decided that it wasn't as bad i was making it seem and have decided to leave them as selected. Worst case scenario is that i have to paint over things when they are done. Re: do you constantly second guess your choices???? 19Jan 19, 2010 12:00 pm We did second guess our choices a bit before our contract, but we did so much research that by the time we signed off on our contract we were happy (and exhausted), and even now, seeing other peoples choices we are still happy, the house isn’t built yet, so we’ll see if we are still as happy when we see it in real life Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: do you constantly second guess your choices???? 20Jan 19, 2010 12:19 pm We did our selections back in April and we were really happy with them then however from about May onwards (and we still haven't started building ) I have been constantly stressing that it isn't going to look right and match but theres nothing I can do now except hope for the best And I agree with others, after seeing some of the ideas here you second guess yourself even more!
