Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 18, 2010 5:36 pm Hi .. Has anybody built using Boral Sandy Bay bricks? Originally we had chosen Boral Graphite with Monument roof,Surfmist Facia ,Monument Windows.....but we have now taken a liking to the Sandy Bay bricks....just unsure whether they will work with the Monument!.. Cheers Re: Brick Help 2Jan 18, 2010 6:00 pm Could you please post a picture of the bricks? I can't find them on the Boral site Re: Brick Help 4Jan 18, 2010 8:01 pm To be honest, I don't think that the Monument looks as nice with those bricks as the lighter Dune, and I usually prefer dark roofs with light bricks The Monument is a strong colour, and the bricks are a strong colour, and I think that the 2 together would compete for attention. The Dune complements the bricks rather than competes with it, to my eyes. It's always so hard to picture it as it would be on a completed house. One of the houses close to my build has a rich cream brick (verging on honeycomb colour) and what appears to be a Monument roof. To me the effect clashes a bit. I'll try to find a picture of it Re: Brick Help 6Jan 22, 2010 10:14 am Thanks Vundaful for the insight and the pic ... i can see what you mean .... we were thinking maybe a lighter facia colour like surfmist would break the contrast between roof and brickwork! ...Not so sure! Hmmm back to the display centers i think ...... i swear choosing bricks has been even harder than dealing with council.. ...but we shall get there! 2 8461 I should have followed up on this thread. So, the pier foundation wasn't large enough on the side it was leaning towards, and the NBN cable went through the pier, just… 8 12251 Just be careful with building stability during construction, that is when the structure may be weakened, refer to your engineering drawings for stability methodology. 1 7382 |
