Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 17, 2010 6:43 pm Hi, We've finally started the building. The piering started end of last year and finished a week ago. I've been posting on the Split level post here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15515 and also on my blog at http://rebuilderama.blogspot.com But thought this to be a more general question. The piering has resulted in a pile of excess soil the tradies pushed into a pile at the back of the property and my site supervisor has told me it's a good time to get a tool in for a few hours this coming weekend after the slab has dried and level off the back. My question is, is the leveling here something i should have to arrange and pay for myself? I know it's around $70/hour and $150 delivery of tool, but is the guy trying to pull a fast one on me? Is this something the building company should be taking care of? I just don't know. rivercup Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Leveling of soil pile left after the piering drilling 2Jan 18, 2010 6:13 am I tend to believe it depends on how the agreement between you and your builder has been configured. In our case the builder did all soil removal and levelling - I'd be (unpleasantly) surprised if they asked us to do anything. By the way, the standard wording in the HIA contract restricts owner's access to the land while it is being built (I might be wrong here - I know this was in our contract but could be in an appendix rather than the main body)... ps. That pile of soil if my eyesight does not deceive me = 1 shovel and 6 manhours of work.. And no need to go to a gym for a week ... built a Promenade with Clarendon. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=25104 20-10-09 - excavation and piering completed ... 12-04-10 - Basins fixed. I use Tramex moisture meter and it will tell me instantly if the wall is cement sheet or plaster or masonite but most people dont have the equipment. 5 7062 you need a fridgie to answer but I would think you vac the whole system then add gas if you have a leak, unless it is new install with the gas already loaded, in that case… 1 3651 Old Home Restoration / Renovation Hi, just discovered all these junks left behind under the floor. Could any of these be asbestos? Best to leave as it is or clean up? Thank you for your thoughts 0 8059 |
