Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 30, 2007 5:11 pm Just had a call from our site super. Seems that there may be an issue with the concrete trucks being able to get onto our land.
We have a fairly narrow crossover and the road is a narrow single lane. The trucks need to be able to get across a wider crossover. Widening the crossover requires permits and will take a long time. We need something more temporary but what can we use? Remember this is a full concrete truck so it is not going to be light (I'm guessing 5 to 10 tons??). If we fill the ditch in then we risk rain causing the whole area to flood. If we try covering it, it might break. If something does go wrong, then we have 10 to 15 trucks unable to deliver. They then have to dump their load somewhere and someone has to pay for it. Any ideas? 3xb Re: Concrete Truck woes 2Jul 30, 2007 5:40 pm Not sure I understand the problem. Why would a concrete truck need to use your crossover?
I am building on a small narrow court, but when my slab was being poured, the pouring truck parked adjacent to the house with the concrete trucks (it took more than one load) positioning themselves behind the pouring truck to load it with concrete. One behind the other. Non of them needed to get anywhere near the slab area. Currently Building in Bayside (Brighton East) Re: Concrete Truck woes 3Jul 30, 2007 5:43 pm we understand and sympathise....had the same problem! Thats why our slab was 2 weeks late - they were worries about the trucks sinking beside the access road and tipping over. The top of the access road is very narrow and a steep turn. They put some crushed rock down next to the crossover, which didn't help much as it sunk down too! Then they came and measured up to pump the concrete all the way down from the top of the access road- about 100m from our block!! So this may be the best solution for you for the concrete anyway....not sure about the rest of the big trucks you will need to get onto the site though. ![]() Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Concrete Truck woes 4Jul 31, 2007 10:23 am Thanks for the replies, The site super is going to get the concrete supplier to come around today and have a look. Hopefully they will do as you guys have suggested.
So basically, the trucks can pump the concrete to the slab. I guess that the issue must be to do with the trucks keeping off the road. The site super indicated that if they could close the road, then it would not be a problem which I didn't understand at the time. Makes sense now. Problem with closing the road is that it requires a permit and that will take time, probably weeks. Hopefully there is a way. 7 4215 Hi folks, Looking for some guidance before I talk to the pool company. My concrete pool is yet to be rendered, so still at the raw concrete stage.
