My partner wants three round columns separating the formal dining room and the entrance. The idea is for two glass panels to be installed between in between the columns (floor to ceilling) in order to separate the open living from the entrance and prevent the warm air in winter from going to upstairs. Initially I liked the idea, but now that the frame has gone up (pratially) I am having second thoughts about the round columns . I still like the glass panels idea but just not the columns.
What do you l think of the three round columns? Should we stick with it or just have rectangular connection points between the glass panels (same material as walls)?
If we decide to stick with the columns they would just be plain ones (floor to ceiling).
Also, my partner wants to use round columns in the alfresco area (again three columns). I am beginning to think it might look too try hard and tacky and maybe we should just stick with square beams and just have them painted. What do you think?
Here is a our floor plan. Red circles are the columns and blue is the glass panels.
