Good luck! Re: Looking for Feedback on New Generation Homes - WA 3Jan 15, 2010 11:06 am Hello abbeybox I might be a bit biased, as I work for my builder - Summit Homes aka New Gen... but we are building a New Gen house and are very pleased with quality so far The Onyx is a really nice house. There are a few others on here who are building with them. Hope their feedback is as good as mine Happy hunting! Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Re: Looking for Feedback on New Generation Homes - WA 4Jan 15, 2010 5:55 pm Have built with New Generation twice in 5 years (once for us, once for investment). You get exactly what you expect to get when signing with the "cheaper" subsidiary of a big builder like Summit. Their specs are good, better than some other "first home buyer" builders, but there are better builders out there for only a fraction more cost. Cross your fingers you get a good site supervisor. Re: Looking for Feedback on New Generation Homes - WA 5Jan 18, 2010 11:04 am We are currently building with New Gen. It's been a very smooth experience, and we'd build with them again. Our salesman was fantastic. We've only had a couple of issues along the way, and all have been fixed without a problem. The house is not yet finished, so we've not done the full inspection yet. My only criticism is that they could be better on communication. We had a "client liaison" person in the beginning, but weren't told when she was no longer our contact (our messages just weren't returned), then weren't given someone new we could talk to (or weren't told about it if we were). We aren't really sure of what happens at inspection / handover or how long that takes, and the process hasn't been explained. This is frustrating when we're trying to plan for moving. Minor issues compared to some of the problems other people have while building! If we're put on this earth to help others, what are the others here for? Re: Looking for Feedback on New Generation Homes - WA 6Jan 18, 2010 4:46 pm We're building with New Gen/Summit as well. This is the second time we are building with Summit (four builds in total). They have been excellent. Our rep has been nothing short of fantastic. Our prestart is on Wednesday and everyone has kept us in the loop. I have done a lot of research into builders as well as experienced vicariously through many of my friends' builds over the past few years with different builders and making my decision to go with Summit was easy. Every builder is going to make mistakes, it's the point of how big these mistakes are and how they go about rectifying them, so be careful with who you choose. Good luck!
