Looks like I'm going to have to visit Blinds Online ... they go great with the mouse paint. Whilst on that subject, how do you go with keeping your paintwork clean? I am finding that the mouse paint leaves a shiny mark if I clean off a mark with a magic eraser or damp cloth. Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 502Nov 17, 2010 12:48 pm Ohhh I like the cubby.. Where did Santa get it? Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 503Nov 17, 2010 5:07 pm Entertainer Hey Evelyn ... your blinds look awesome. I am finding that the mouse paint leaves a shiny mark if I clean off a mark with a magic eraser or damp cloth. Thanks, they really complement the Mouse colouring. They have a great range of all sorts of blinds. Our paint hasn't had that issue ? Did you get the 3 coat or 2 coat paint option ? With the 3 coat you get undercoat and 2 topcoats of low sheen, whereas with the 2 coat system you get 2 coats of flat paint - I think the low sheen is easier to get marks off without leaving any trace (although it shows up gyprock imperfections ). Cooped07 Ohhh I like the cubby.. Where did Santa get it? Just Cubbies on Goodwood Rd. Quite good to deal with, although everything seemed to be "extra" eg delivery, install, windows.... Also, Santa is all booked out for pre-Christmas installs now - I think I got the last day available ! Can't wait for the kids to see it - they're going to go nuts Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 504Nov 18, 2010 11:08 am Hmmmm, we did the 2 coat option. Had we known, we would have spent the money. Looks like we might be up for a paint job in a year or two Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 505Nov 19, 2010 10:46 am Evelyn, can I ask you a question about the gas meter stuff? I know that we have to orgainse a gas meter but when i phoned up AGL, they confused the hell out of me. The handover letter from Dechellis states that the hot water service and appliances get installed on the day of handover. But we move in on that day and want to ensure that we have gas working so that we can have a hot shower! I think AGL was saying something like a gas fitter has to come to "unlock" the gas meter? I got so confused because he kept talking about "commissioning the appliances". I am pretty sure that I got someone in an Indian call centre that was reading off a script. Could you explain what needs to happen with the gas and what you did? ------------------------------------------------------ Handover: 14 December 2010 Current: Putting in plants! I got so confused because he kept talking about "commissioning the appliances". I am pretty sure that I got someone in an Indian call centre that was reading off a script. Could you explain what needs to happen with the gas and what you did? Dechellis should have sent you a letter with your MIRN on it - reference number for your meter. During construction Dechellis also arrange for APA Group to come out and put the gas line in from the street. You get another letter from Dechellis when this is done. You are then meant to call your preferred gas retailer (AGL; Origin) with your MIRN and they will book in a day to put in the meter (meter-fix). They need about 5 days notice. There will be problems if the appliances aren't installed when they come to put the meter in - if they're not in, the gas lines will not be sealed, and they won't be able to commission the line as they can't test the appliances. They will most likely turn around and leave (happened to us). So, it takes some coordination and it might be that unless you can coordinate them to come on the afternoon when handover is complete, you might not be showering for a day or two. Lastly, Dechellis also come and check things out sometime after handover to make sure all the appliances are working so they can sign them off. Easy ! Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 507Nov 19, 2010 12:54 pm Just make sure Dechellis remember to organise for the gas line to be put in. There was some confusion with the paperwork for ours and we had a full week with no hot showers Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 508Nov 19, 2010 4:03 pm Thanks Evelyn and Entertainer! it was all highly confusing but you have helped heaps! Evelyn, you could get a second job at AGL if you ever needed! ------------------------------------------------------ Handover: 14 December 2010 Current: Putting in plants! Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 510Nov 24, 2010 5:49 pm stegosaurus Hey evelyng. Have you got your curtains yet? I just recieved a quote for mine - when I recovered from looking at the price I read that they cannot be completed until mid-feb Just wondering if this is normal.... Sounds about right if my experience is about average. I ordered in October and will get them in (hopefully) in mid December. Mine were actually due in late November but the fabric was delayed from overseas. Also, if you take into account Christmas closedown, I'd say February probably isn't unreasonable And yes, custom made curtains are not cheap I'm taking an "all of window" approach and offsetting the savings I made with the blinds to the premium I'm paying for the curtains....that's what I keep telling myself anyway Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 511Nov 26, 2010 2:21 pm evelyng And yes, custom made curtains are not cheap I'm taking an "all of window" approach and offsetting the savings I made with the blinds to the premium I'm paying for the curtains....that's what I keep telling myself anyway I bought a couch on Tuesday night and tried to convince myself that the Myer One vouchers that I earnt would offset the difference in price between the one I intended to buy (from freedom) and the one I ended up getting... I'm looking forward to seeing your curtains! I am revising my curtain plan a bit to try and cut the price down a couple of thousand. Apparently the pelmets have a lot to answer for - but I love pelmets so I'll probably do a Kath and Kim and 'skimp on the essentials' Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 512Nov 26, 2010 4:19 pm stegosaurus evelyng And yes, custom made curtains are not cheap I'm taking an "all of window" approach and offsetting the savings I made with the blinds to the premium I'm paying for the curtains....that's what I keep telling myself anyway I bought a couch on Tuesday night and tried to convince myself that the Myer One vouchers that I earnt would offset the difference in price between the one I intended to buy (from freedom) and the one I ended up getting... Our pelmets only cost about $300 each for ones that are about 2m long, padded and self piped. The curtains and tracks on the other hand cost $4000 Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 513Nov 26, 2010 7:58 pm Your blinds look great Evelyn and the kids will love the cubby house!!! I will have to check out the blinds online website. I have been recommended a company that has displays in shopping centres..I cant remember the name??? The people that recommended this lady Debbie have recently built and it cost them about $5K for all their window furnishings and they said they get load of compliments from friends of how good it looks. I will have to get some quotes. I just got a quote for paving .......wow...its not cheap. May I ask how much you paid for your paving? I was quoted $17k for approx 160sqm of paving also using the boral promenades!!!! For the Promenades I'd say thats a little on the pricey side. We paid about $80/m installed including rubble, cementing in etc for the 30cm Promenades and edging. And I think I've priced this on the upper end as I included all the prep costs for our feature pavers in this. Would be interested to see if you find the window furnishing lady ? $5000 for a whole house is a pretty good deal ! Yep the kids are going to love the cubby. Santa's helpers will be here next weekend putting it together. We put the Christmas tree up tonight and they just went nuts with excitement Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 515Nov 28, 2010 9:21 pm Happy day today ! Christmas lights are GO Have blue icicles out the front, chaser icicles around the pergola, still finding a spot for my metre wide star If only I could figure out how to take night photos.... I don't know why they deny it when they've written their own name on the wall In other news, I visited the furniture workshop this week to sign off on the timber they're making my table out of. I think its going to look awesome, they've picked out some blackwood timber with lots of the chocolate veining through it. Can't wait ! Should only be a couple of weeks away.
