Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 601Apr 19, 2011 4:40 pm Building a house?? I wanted the dates because my DH keeps putting the purchase of anything off until nearer the time we move in and to me that is coming up pretty fast!! I have lots of ideas but can't talk about them because it's too soon. Furniture can sometimes have a long lead time and we need to start planning the landscaping as we want to get a bit done before we move in. I'm hoping my little spreadsheet will scare the bejesus out of him! Funny I returned home and walked in and immediately thought - I really do love my house, so glad I'm home Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 604Apr 24, 2011 10:40 am Yay that's what it's all about isn't it! It's nice to go away but it's lovely to come home to a place you love. Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 605May 04, 2011 9:41 pm Hi, love your house. We are considering using Platinum Micro in our house. I see you have used it. Are you happy with how it looks? I like Mushroom Linea too which I see you have used in the laundry. Also, I like your wall tiles in the bathroom. I don't suppose you know the name or roughly the price/mtr on those at all? Hope you don't mind me asking. Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 606May 05, 2011 8:19 am chook07 Hi, love your house. We are considering using Platinum Micro in our house. I see you have used it. Thank you, we love living in it I do like the platinum micro and it goes well with the Mushroom linea. Both are really functional colours that go with lots of tones. Having said that, if I had my time again I would have gone for the liquorice linea in my bathrooms (same as my kitchen island), and it has a bit more oomph. However, it would have been more oomph on the wallet too as its not 'standard'. The wall tiles are called Vision Ivory (600 * 300). They have a faint stripe in them. They came from Italia Ceramics, but sorry don't know the price as they were standard so had no extra charge. My only issue with these tiles is that they have a green/yellow tinge, but I have since discovered that by changing my light globe to a cool white instead of the normal Tastic centre light, the green has disappeared and they are now a true beige. Hope this helps ! Do you have a thread ? Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 607May 05, 2011 9:33 am Hi Evelyn, and another useful tip about the light in your tastic - who would have thought?? How's the back yard going - did you paint anything, plant anything or still mulling over what to do?? Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 608May 05, 2011 5:51 pm Mclaren Hi Evelyn, and another useful tip about the light in your tastic - who would have thought?? How's the back yard going - did you paint anything, plant anything or still mulling over what to do?? I know ! I couldn't believe the difference, I actually like them now. Back yard is pretty much the same, I did plant out the lilli pillies in the back garden bed, and I've chosen my fence creeper (mandevilla with deep red flowers), just have to prepare the soil etc. But am thinking its probably better to wait until spring now rather than plant out in the cold weather. I am psyching myself up to re mulch everywhere, as the stuff the landscaper put in is returning itself to the earth. Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 609May 06, 2011 8:39 am That's good news about the mulch - it's supposed to do that and improve the soil! You are turning in to quite the green thumb! Just wanted to ask how the cats are going with their little "section" in the laundry - did you find that there is less scattered mess because of your specially designed cupboard? Hi Lee, no cats in our house !! I think you have me confused with Somewoman - she had her laundry designed for the cats litter. Unfortunately she's not living in the house anymore (last we heard anyway) so don't think you can get an update Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 613May 23, 2011 4:16 pm Evelyn, I'm so sorry, I had this brain wave about 2am this morning that I had you two confused! and I thought perhaps everything had worked out because she was living there again (but I think I was thinking of you also). Dumb me!! So sorry Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 614Sep 01, 2011 8:36 pm Just saw this. From what I hear the cats are quite ok with their area of the laundry, and it really does reduce the mess immensely. When I was still living there, I would have to say that the best thing would be the vacpan. Any litter that did make it past the small cabinet wall could easily be swept into the vacpan unit. In my little house the laundry is behind some sliding doors - just a cupboard style laundry. There is enough room in there for Linden's litter tray, and I leave one of the doors slightly open. She's quite happy to go in there, and there is enough room in front of her tray to put the rubbish bin. It helps prevent some of the scatter within the laundry cupboard. Re: Building with Dechellis in 2010 615Jan 25, 2012 3:09 pm Hi Evelyn, do you remember I told you I had made up a "build calendar" based on the dates of your build? Well we got our keys 15 days after you would have got yours so that was pretty close wasn't it? How's the back garden going ... have you done anymore to it? Long time between posts for me They must know how to build houses Apart from the shed, we haven't done too much. Last week I shovelled 4 tonnes of mushroom compost around the garden beds, so the plants are very happy right now. My little climber is doing OK, but the heat isn't helping. Here's some pics of the garden just over 1 year on... before: http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu262/evelyng_photos/IMG_4259.jpg after: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ before: http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu262/evelyng_photos/IMG_4241.jpg after: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ we also put in a security door, but i can't find a photo of it ! OK, just went outside with the iphone and took a pic, there's late afternoon sun creeping in at the bottom but you get the idea. We got it from Iron Curtains - its solid wrought iron coated with a satin black finish with black privacy mesh. It weighs about 40 kgs and isn't going anywhere !
