Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 13, 2010 6:12 pm We're looking seriously at a DaleA plan (with modifications), and I haven't found an awful lot on this site about people's experiences with this builder. I am quite conscious that they build so many homes in WA, and that means building supervisors might have 15 builds to look after, compared with 7 at another company... Can anyone give me either some reassurances or the steer clear? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post publicly. I do appreciate that some people will have had good experiences and others not so good... I'm just looking for a general view. Thanks. Edit: to make more sense. Re: Anyone built with this builder? (WA) 2Jan 13, 2010 7:10 pm Hi, we're just starting our build with DA. So far so good. The planning went well, they listened to what we wanted, gave some good recommendations and were very honest with us. Our plans are our own design and we are on a bush block so there were a lot of council regulations to meet but they got the poans through council first time without any hassle - they really seemed to know what they were doing there. They have been fairly quick to respond to any queries we've had and everyone we have dealt with so far have been great. We are about to start the earthworks so I can't comment on any building experiences etc... or with the SS but there are 2 DA homes close to where I currently live and I have been watching them closely and all looks ok so far. I am happy with the choice of builder we made - we spoke to quite a few and thought these were the best for our needs. You have to go with who you feel comfortable and it helps to have someone approachable to deal with. Hope that helps a little. Sarah Re: Anyone built with this builder? (WA) 5Jan 14, 2010 4:35 pm No complaints from me so far... They have been most helpful through the sales stage and also now into the building stage - I built with Ventura last time and DA seem to be a lot more structured and organised. So far nothing has been too much trouble (although we are spending a truckload) - now entering the construction phase so time will tell (and I will keep my blog updated with any incidents/issues)... If you have any specific questions regarding pricing of options and what-not just PM me. Good Luck! (WA) 6Jan 14, 2010 4:58 pm I wouldnt be to concerned with SS overlooking 15 builds at any one time . I have been told that the builders code dropped them down to a maximum of 21 sites only at any given time. With a bit of a boom on at this time ( due to FHOG ) many are peaking at this max. Im am building with a smaller company than most and the going is slow compared to many others building with way larger companies than I chose. (WA) 7Jan 14, 2010 7:42 pm Howdy, Building with DA in Baldivis and they have been nothing but helpful, considering i'm 1200kms away where some builders take advantage and screw you over DA has been the complete opposite from other peoples experiences. Pre start was excellent, everything was in the one place and the standard fittings are good quality however i upgraded a lot of mine and I thought it was all pretty reasonable and not pricey like I've heard. Also they done me a great deal for my kitchen, Blanco 900mm appliances for $950 and wasn't even eligble for the deal so that was a nice little bonus. Also helps if you have a great sales consultant which I've struck lucky with mine, can't do enough to help. Sure they charge a little more than the other company's but compare the end result to a lot of other homes and building company's there just is no comparison, the finishes are a **** better and the fittings are also better than other standard ranges. Reminds me....must start up a thread of my own! Re: Anyone built with this builder? (WA) 9Jan 15, 2010 6:31 pm Thanks guys... your comments indicate there's really nothing to worry about. I hope this is typical of how most people go with DA. We have a meeting with the sales guy tomorrow to take a look at one of their plans with our requested modifications. He was a bit pushy on the phone, talking contracts already etc, but we have no qualms telling him to tone it down if he continues that way. No way we're being pressured into anything! Re: Anyone built with this builder? (WA) 10Jan 22, 2010 3:38 pm Hi There Just wondering how you got on? We built with DA 10 years ago - it was a dream build. We signed with them again in October. We're at contract stage and apart from some minor constuctional things I think we'll be signed off in the next week or so and then comes the exciting stage. Our sales guy has been nothing but helpful and professional. Just remember they are working for you "The Client". It's in their best interest to keep you happy after all. We've found that we have received the same level of service - even after we signed up. Cheers jbarry My build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=25713 13th Oct - Offer on block 4th Dec - Settlement of block scheduled (delayed due to titles) 22nd Feb - Titles Issued 17th Mar - Land Settlement 17th Mar - Pre-start meeting Re: Anyone built with this builder? (WA) 11Jan 22, 2010 5:54 pm Thanks for asking jbarry Our meeting went well, the sales guy was extremely accommodating, to the point where he shifted an appointment so we could spend longer with him. More changes made to the plan (which is pretty close to how we want it, I think), and it's gone off to the design team to get more accurate plans and an elevation. There was no pushy sales behaviour at all, well, besides the "look at our awesome showroom" stuff. Perhaps we were just being sensitive based on stories we've heard about people's experiences with building companies. So we're still working on it, but based on our experience so far, it looks like we may have settled on a builder Hi All, we are starting to think of building with Masterpiece Builders in Victoria, has anyone had any feedback or experience with them 0 13567 wondering anyone built with omaxe homes and care to share their experiences. thanks 0 13821 Hi we are looking to talk to people who have built with them recently.
