Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 13, 2010 11:55 am We're getting the land titled within the next week and was wondering whether it's best to get it independently surveyed before or after it has been titled? Our build then starts next month. Finally! Life is; then you tell yourself a story. Re: Land Survey 2Jan 14, 2010 4:15 pm I didn't pay extra to get a surveyor to check the position of the boundary pegs when my lot was titled. I almost ended up being charged extra re-establishment fee by my builder because some dumb site person cannot find the boundary pegs at my lot just prior to start of build. The fencing betwen my lot and neighbours were all up and my lot was the last to start construction. Luckily I managed to find the boundary pegs by digging around/undernealth the intersections of the side/back fencing and save myself $850. Re: Land Survey 3Jan 15, 2010 8:35 am Thanks rocket. Luckily you found the boundary pegs. We're building one or two weeks after land has been titled so not a big time for pegs to go missing. We're getting the land surveyed because when I went out there, things don't seem right. I think the pegs are in strange positions and not even in straight lines. Things have to be correct for the builder in a couple of weeks. I'm going to call a surveyor (recommended by conveyancer) to get a quote and get them to do it before Feb. We bought Our land at Innisfail estate in Point Cook. Peet land sales people have put up pegs at the front but not at the rear. Porter Davis informed us of this. And there is a talk of Re-establishment survey as well. So guess this will involve some fee. I'd digg out and check if there are any pegs under. PD could not find our pegs either, went and had what others would call a Mummy look and they were there just hidden under dirt. A survey must’ve completed by a certified surveyor.
