Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 11, 2010 2:48 pm Hi all, We had a colour appointment last Thursday and have picked all of the colours for our lovely new home. We are building the Voltaire, by Clarendon. We had lots of trouble picking a home to build due to a building envelope on our property, and totally under budgeting for our first choice, a double storey (Came in about $50 k over budget) (That's what happens when you have no clue what you are doing, and your site costs come back pretty ugly!!) - It is all sorted now though, and it is like it was meant to be, the Voltaire fits perfectly on our block. It is also designed perfectly for our block, as our land (back yard) goes out to the side of the house, and the Voltaire has all of the living zones along this side. I have set up a photo bucket page so that you can all see the photos of our colour choices, pictures of our land and a digital image of our new home. We are looking forward to starting the building journey and as a regular reader of this website I am aware that many of you like to look at a photo or two. If anyone has any advice, questions, etc please send me a post and I will endeavour to reply. I intend to post our whole journey on this thread... can't wait!!!!!!!! I dont have pictures, but our tiles are traditional- luna eclipse, and our bricks are kurrajong by Boral. Will post when I get them. http://s940.photobucket.com/albums/ad24 ... 20journey/ Re: Building a Clarendon Voltaire- Our journey.. so exciting!! 2Jan 11, 2010 3:03 pm Hi Nikkit, welcome to H1 Pull up a pouffle and make yourself comfy. I'm having a browse of your photo album. The plans look good, what a house! I LOVE your big walk in pantry, I badly wanted one in my plans but unfortunately didn't have the space. Looking forward to seeing some more of your colour choices I'm the impatient sort so I went to your suppliers home pages - are these the bricks and tiles? Thanks! We have our next appointment on the 4th Feb... seems like so long away. We have been looking for so long i just want them to start building already... we will be lucky if they start in May!! We still have to sign contracts and get it all approved from the council. The bricks look a million times better in person - they have a slight light gold flicker through the ends of the bricks which lightens the house up a bit. We chose them off several houses rather than a display yard- I believe this gives a much better indication of the brick. We didn't even like this brick in the brick yard, looks a million times better in person. Re: Building a Clarendon Voltaire- Our journey.. so exciting!! 4Jan 11, 2010 4:59 pm I'll try to find some whole wall pictures, I have trouble picturing brown walls (only brown brick properties are houses that were built in the 70's from that really dark brown brick... *shudder*) because currently in Perth cream bricks are all the rage, so I haven't seen many designs making use of coffee/latte/earth coloured bricks. For example, in my new estate there are about 15 houses that have started: 13 are cream, 2 are red brick! It's weird how different the trends are on either side of the nation! Re: Building a Clarendon Voltaire- Our journey.. so exciting 5May 01, 2010 9:07 pm Well, we are finally on our way. Building started on 26th April. Site scrape done and slab poured. I have uploaded some new photos to photobucket. Cant wait for the next stage, frames. We will finally be able to see the house take shape. So excited !!! http://s940.photobucket.com/albums/ad24 ... 20journey/ Re: Building a Clarendon Voltaire- Our journey.. so exciting 6May 02, 2010 10:32 am nikkit Well, we are finally on our way. We are also building the Voltaire with Clarendon and we have just had our Tender appointment on the 21 April. It is rather frustrating at how long things take to happen but I guess that is all part of the processes. We can not do much though as our land still needs to be titled and we have been given a building booking date of Early August but I doubt that the land will be titled on time We are building in Point Cook, where are you building? I will be following your journey quite closely as it will be lovely to see what our future home will look like as well. Thanks for the great pics. They were quite quick with slab pouring. Looking forward to your updates. Take care and all the very best for your build. I just saw your reply on my thread and can't wait to come over and see you here.We are building with Clarendon across the road from you. Joe just mentioned that it will be very efficent as he will arrange the construction of our both sites all together We just inspected our site yesterday and saw your slab has been done.Congrats on the slab. we are a bit later than yours. Very happy that they just took two week to get so far! We will keep an eyes on both our construction. Looking forwarding to keeping in touch with you in the further. Hope both of us will be good on each stage! Re: Building a Clarendon Voltaire- Our journey.. so exciting 8May 02, 2010 1:30 pm What a coincidence! I thought it sounded like there were a lot of similarities, so thought I would just ask. Well we are a young family with 2 little boys. There are quite a few families, the two houses almost completed on my side of the road both apparantly have families too. There are also a few older couples, so there will be a good mix of people. Do you live in the area now? We live in Bayswater. We love the estate, it is so nice to have all the parks at the bottom of the street, and the beautiful walk around the golf course. Very happy with Clarendon so far too, the site start has been very efficient so far... hopefully we will both be in before too long!! We will keep in contact. It has only taken Clarendon less than two weeks from site scrape to slab, our site manager has been very organised so far. I know it feels like forever but you will be in your new house in no time.. From Nikki, Paul, Bailey and Cooper No 19 HI, Nikki Nice to see your reply. We are just-married young couple and live in Brunswick currently and pleasure to be your neighbor soon. We love croydon, very quiet but easily access to knoxcity and east land. I have one question regarding inspection of each stage. My CSO told me Clarendon got independent inspection of each stage to guarantee the quality. Normally, these inspectors would issue report after inspection, I just wonder you want report from them or you prefer hire someone else to do the inspection for you? I got phone call from my SS last week and mentioned they would start to framing by this Friday if the weather is fine, but now it looks like raining most days of this week which postpone the progress, did your SS (Joe) tell you anything about the schedule of framing? We are busying with payment to clarendon these days. Just fixed up slab payment, Today we received frame invoice , due date is 12/may. These bustard haven't even started framing yet. Re: Building a Clarendon Voltaire- Our journey.. so exciting 14May 07, 2010 10:15 am nikkit Linda and Jan, You may be pleasantly surprised about your frame if you go for a drive HI, Nikki Thanks for your info at first time. We visited our site yesterday and found all frame up to wall done. Same to yours, suprised to us! Now, I just wonder whether or not you will hire someone inspect your frame after it's done? Any good inspector you may recommend? Thanks Linda and Jan Re: Building a Clarendon Voltaire- Our journey.. so exciting 15May 11, 2010 2:17 pm Hey All, We are also bulding a Voltaire with Clarendon, as thanks for posting NikKit as I now tracked down your page we can watch your progress as well as repot on ours. Happy Building Re: Building a Clarendon Voltaire- Our journey.. so exciting 17May 12, 2010 8:41 am Hi NikKit, Plans just went to council on Monday, so hopefully it won't be too long before we have some physical building works underway. How long did it take for your home from council approval until Clarendon started to scrape down your site? Re: Building a Clarendon Voltaire- Our journey.. so exciting 19May 13, 2010 3:09 pm Thanks NikKit, nice just to have some idea of time frame from someone whos done it. Thanks Re: Building a Clarendon Voltaire- Our journey.. so exciting 20Jun 06, 2010 4:28 pm Hi Nikkit, Hope that you are well. Just checking how your build was going. Also we are about to sign our contract with "C" and was wanting to know if you had any issues with the contract. Thanks, let me know Logan Any advice on how to ensure the kit home granny flat that im thinking of buying will get council approval. The kit home companys wont release plans without a deposit and… 0 7222 the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6743 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant.
