We too have been victims of theft from our build with our doors smashed in numerous times, tiles stolen and our spa stolen. We actually witnessed 2 guys thieving all of the steel from the building sites in our estate last night - we reported this to the police. I hope your builder can resolve this quickly for you and you can be back on track soon enough. We've done a couple of stake outs at our place to keep an eye on things - so I know what you mean when you say FULL SURVEILLANCE!!! We've already organised 3 quotes for CCTV, Alarm and sensors connected to intercom!!! It really makes me mad that people feel the need to damage other people's property. So sorry that PCI didn't go ahead. They are stupid idiots, hope they get caught and get the book thrown at them. Feeling for you Belial. Re: Our Places Fairhaven 23+ - ******* Thieves 745Nov 22, 2010 9:52 pm Thanks everyone for your support, we ended up having a truncated PCI today, we went through what we could (read gave the house chickenpox ) and will finish it up later in the week. We've taken all measures possible to ensure it doesn't happen again. So we're still looking hopefully at handover in the near future. Reflect as for your comments, tbh we have been in two minds regarding whether to clean the thread entirely of all images and details, however I'd like to think that based on the number of views, PM's and comments we've received that the good we've done by documenting the process in trying to help others by detailing our mistakes, trials and issues as well as outcomes etc outweighs the potential risk we face by doing so. The possibility exists that what occurred is entirely random and based on what was taken this was not a highly organised and systematic thievery that others have experienced on high ticket items, and as such we doubt that our having this thread is directly responsible. equally there exists the possibility that this is NOT a random occurrence and our home was targeted for a specific reason. Hence thread or not it makes no difference. I'm a firm believer in not bending to accommodate the lowest common scum and their potential to do harm, all we can do is try to minimize the risks and that in this context thats a balancing act between providing enough detail to share our journey with others and not ending up with something no one cares about as its non specific and uninteresting. It comes down to a personal choice but in my opinion I think its definately a great way to really get into your build and experience and share with like minded people who are going through all the same problems an outlet for us to actually discuss things with people who understand why a gable being painted the wrong color is really a big issue and actually care. Re: Our Places Fairhaven 23+ - ******* Thieves 751Nov 24, 2010 12:05 pm REfL3ct Belial Reflect as for your comments, tbh we have been in two minds regarding whether to clean the thread entirely of all images and details, however I'd like to think that based on the number of views, PM's and comments we've received that the good we've done by documenting the process in trying to help others by detailing our mistakes, trials and issues as well as outcomes etc outweighs the potential risk we face by doing so. you know what. that is very nicely put and very generous of you. i have learnt lots by following your thread so i can appreciate what you have said. thanks. Cheers reflect, its precisely that which makes it worthwhile, in new news it seems there has been a spate of damage and thefts in the last few days in pretty much our whole development stage. That damaged plaster has been fixed, painters will be back and we're now looking at PCI friday, so long as the plumbers come back and actually do some work. As it is the brickies next door ignored the signs this morning and nearly flooded our house again, only the precautions put in place meant that at least the showers drained correctly, whilst our SS is going to inspect the laundry cabinet as its clear the plumbers didn't fix the issue when they were on site Tuesday. In other news our downpipes all need to be changed as the installed zincalume then painted it instead of installing colorbond downpipes as per the contract. Outside of that still a few bits and pieces to go, the latest storm in a teacup has passed over our kitchen return splashback not being ordered. Pebbles: Vanities in the bathrooms are unscathed, the one that had the water inside was in the laundry and the jury is still out as to whether it needs it or not, but we haven't had the oppurtity to check it out too closely since, and given that the water was turned back on again today depsite how difficult we made it to do so we'll have to see. Next issue on the agenda is the fact that only the exterior door, and wet area doors have had their top and bottoms painted/sealed the rest of the internal doors haven't so It will be interesting to see how our contract, Standards and tolerances and my discussion with the Building commission go up against Places/PD internal policy. Only the stuff we both knew about the other day, and in stage 6 our SS mentioned about half the reo was taken from one of his sites, the brick lintels from another and the same thing to at least one other PD site in stage 6 had steel lintels taken all the other night. If so, good luck. I hope everything goes well and the plumbers have pulled their finger out. Re: Our Places Fairhaven 23+ - Moving on 755Nov 26, 2010 11:50 am Cheers Cous, but unfortunately NO JUMP, uh i mean PCI Today. its now scheduled for Tuesday morning however we're looking at Handover next Friday barring the next major disaster. As it stands the plumbers did come back (I assume under threat of physical violence from our SS if they didn't ) however the purchasing department in their infinate uh *wisdom* decided to order mixer handles to attach to our seperate taps. You might have though after the fight we had when they were doing the rough in someone might actually update the purchase order but clearly thats beyond them. However our SS came to the fore and organised the correct fittings for everything except the bath faucet, so as it stands our CofO inspection and independent quality inspections are both going ahead today. The painter is hopefully back as I write this to un-chickenpock our house (read fix the paint where we used about 200 or so red sticky dots to indicate flaws) Spent about 40 minutes this morning marking on a copy of our plans all the locations of the mortar blowouts and other issues that need work on the exterior so our SS will follow up on that, so that way I got to mark the issues and he gets to fix them when he has the time rather than us both trying to meet up to get it done. Also finished re-booking our driveway, flooring, security doors , aircon etc today to account for the change in handover date. Which just leaves insurance and fencing to get sorted. Re: Our Places Fairhaven 23+ - Nearly There 757Nov 27, 2010 11:05 am mm77 OMG.... keep records of the plumbers work. have they done a pressure test to check any water leakage before backfill. if not ask them I have to look at all the issues you had with Places. i am ready to build with them. site start soon.... Ah, mm77 this is the crux of the matter, they are NOT 'my plumbers' they are contractors to Places hence only the SS is allowed to contact them all we are told is that the works are complete and within the standard so long as the plumber issues the compliance certificate. This is because interacting directly or directing the contractors is a breach of contract with Places. Hence why, our SS, CSC, their respective bosses and several other management members are well and truly aware that we are not satisfied with the plumbing works as completed originally. But equally we have very little recourse available. The $$ might be worth it. In my case the Bank inspects as well, given the lending terms and conditions, so there can be some back-up there as well typically if you need it. Having said that, hopefully all can be rectified without having to resort to the above - just keeping the dream alive Building with the Big M, Sandarra Settlement July 16 Site Scrape Sep 22 Slab Oct 12 Framing commenced Oct 13 Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=39517 Re: Our Places Fairhaven 23+ - Nearly There 759Nov 29, 2010 11:52 am Actually we're pretty much getting there, had a quick walkthrough with the SS this morning prior to tomorrow's PCI, the majority of the paint defects have been rectified, the only outstanding ones are the little details such as the inside edges of cupboards etc not being painted. Other than that only a few bits and pieces, the plumbers are back today but pretty much we're there it helps we've been continously pointing out issues and so they've majoritively been rectified already. Our lender does an *inspection* which is pretty much a drive by to ensure that the house exists, is no longer a partially complete building site and other than that they just want to occupancy cert which we gave them Friday. So all going well handover won't be too far off.
