Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 07, 2010 8:35 pm Hi, My wife and I are looking at using Gen1/Easy living homes to build with this year. Does anyone have any feedback on them by chance? Regards, Dale Breiner. Re: Gen1/ easy living homes 2Jan 07, 2010 11:39 pm We have a Gen1 homes house being built down our street. I had never heard of them before that. The slab was poured months ago and they still haven't finished the brickwork. I only ever saw the tradies there for a few hours once a week and not in the last month. Other houses in our area that had the slab down at the same time already have their roof on. But i must admit that the brickwork is very neat. Definetly not sloppy like some houses i have seen. Hope this helps. Re: Gen1/ easy living homes 4Oct 17, 2010 5:24 pm Hi Dale, Did you end up signing up with Gen1/Easy Living Homes? We signed up with them at the beginning of the year. Our slab has been down 2 weeks now. There are many cracks appearing on the slab but I am yet to establish whether they are just cosmetic cracks. The best thing with building with Easy Living is their flexibility. They would not allow us to supply our own items but they were willing & able to source any external items we wanted. We're also lucky as we have a very helpful Customer Liaison Officer/prestart girl who's very responsive & positive. It also helps when the CLO was our point of contact from start to finish. The worst part about dealing with this builder is their hugely inflated prices on any non standard items. I totally understand that builders have to mark up their prices and I expect the mark up to be around 30% the RRP. However, there were cases when Easy Living marked the items up by 200%. My advise to anyone thinking of building with them is to make sure everything you want (including all your prestart selections) is included in your PPA or PCA before you sign it. Anyway, hopefully they will build a good quality house. I will provide an update on the quality of the construction as the house progresses. I'm hoping to be able to rave about our house once it's finished, so fingers crossed. Re: Gen1/ easy living homes 5Nov 22, 2011 7:28 pm Hi Snotlet, How did you go with the build? We have received keys but are having major dramas getting them to honour any of the defects along with us finding out a few average practises that they have done. We have a Independent building inspector going through tomorrow so we have something to throw at them as after 3 weeks, they have done nothing and we can't move in as the carpet layers will not lay our carpet due to bad cement work and wrong levels. Or anyone else have any feedback from a build? DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair I mean, I install them/sell them for a living so I haven't done DIY, unless you count the first one I installed lol. (electrician by trade). Usually a 6-8 hour job for… 3 41535 I would be wary. Is you site demilished but nothing else done? Sounds like liquidity problems to me. Our builder did the same.
