Who's built with them. 423Aug 09, 2017 10:45 pm cforb Oh wow. They look beautiful. We are building our forever home with SJD at the moment and went with a hardwood. We had our selections well over 12 months ago (delays due to subdivision and council, not SJD) and I can't remember what we chose! Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 424Aug 09, 2017 10:48 pm MrsPeabody Congratulations!! What timing! I'm hoping we have slightly more time than that. 🤞 House looks amazing. How are you settling in? Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 425Aug 10, 2017 12:03 pm I'm 33 weeks. It's a little boy and our third. I'm hoping to be in super quickly and hope he is born at 37 weeks. I've had HG he entire pregnancy so can't wait to be done 😂 Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 426Aug 13, 2017 12:24 pm MrsPeabody I'm 33 weeks. It's a little boy and our third. Who's built with them. 427Aug 13, 2017 8:13 pm Yeah, delays are all part of the process. We began our selections in March last year, possibly even earlier- has been a large and long process! At least it gave use time to save along the way. We are getting our roof installed at the moment Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 428Aug 13, 2017 9:01 pm Is it normal for my sales to stop replying my email after I've paid for my deposit? I wonder whether she's away for a week without anyone looking after the email or just moved on servicing new customers... Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 429Aug 13, 2017 9:54 pm Not in our experience. Reps that we have seen have sent out an email to all customers to notify them when moving to other display villages or to say when they would be out of the office. What sort of questions were you asking? Simple ones they would be able to answer without clarifying with engineers, design team etc etc, or more complex qns? Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 430Aug 13, 2017 10:13 pm Pretty straightforward questions, like asking for ideas whether to add/delete items. They were quick in the beginning, getting response within an hour or a day but my last email hasn't been attended to for more than a week now. I know not long but can't help but feeling like being neglected. So convenient right after the payment... Maybe I think too much haha Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 432Aug 15, 2017 7:28 am My wife emailed again and she got a reply from the sales stating that she is currently away for 'workshop'. Oh well... should have told us earlier or set up auto reply. We'll just wait patiently for now. Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 434Aug 15, 2017 5:45 pm Nah, only stated that would respond to our email when she's back. Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 435Aug 17, 2017 7:38 pm Hi, we are also building with SJD Homes and had a couple of questions. Did your site supervisor organise an electricity meter and connection for power during the build or did he expect you to do that? We have already had an underground electricity pit installed and our site supervisor told us the the pit was not connected to the electricity at the pole as he could see a cable tucked into the white plastic pipe that is strapped to the electricity pole, and he said the cable was supposed to be connected at the top to the power. He asked us to get the power sorted and it sounded like he wanted us to also organise the power for the site - as in the meter and a temp builders pole. He said it could delay our build up to a month. We have since contacted both the electricity wholesaler (who installed the pit) and the retailer and they both say the other is responsible for connecting the power to the grid. We think the best way to sort this out is to raise a connection request for the site with the retailer and then if they do the connection to the grid - great and if they complain at least we will have something official to go back to the wholesaler with. BUT from speaking to my friends who have recently built (with Carlisle homes) they said the builder should request the meter and account from the retailer and not us. And it said so in their building contract. We checked our contract with SJD and cant find anything that says one way or the other (as far as we can tell anyway). What was your experience? Thanks for any help. SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 436Aug 17, 2017 9:53 pm TheWaitingGame Hi, we are also building with SJD Homes and had a couple of questions. Thanks for any help. We signed a form with SJD to connect us with a retailer. Ours was a knock down rebuild. We had to do our own pit and SJD supplied the meter. I assume from the retailer. We then had to get the pit energised with the retailer. I assume your site supervisor requires the pit to be energised which means getting the retailer involved. Our retailer charge $500 to energise the pit or connection fee it was classed as. Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 437Aug 17, 2017 9:57 pm Thanks for the reply Jclw! I will ask our site supervisor about the form. Ours is also a knockdown rebuild. Cheers Re: SJD Homes. Who's built with them. 438Aug 17, 2017 10:28 pm TheWaitingGame Thanks for the reply Jclw! I will ask our site supervisor about the form. Ours is also a knockdown rebuild. Cheers Welcome! Yes best to speak to your site supervisor. We completely forgot we signed that form. I went through all the paper work and it was there. Also, expect to pay around $500 to get the pit energised. It might be more now but we paid $500 to the retailer(connection fee) Re: SJD Homes.
