Flooring Chosen! 745Jun 28, 2010 4:48 pm Vundaful! stillwaters Love the chosen floor, which category of quick-step is it? (seems to be at least one natural oak in each category! Hi stillwaters! Thanks very much We went with the Eligna series. Still in love with it! Hi Vundaful, I LOVE reading through your thread. I love all the pics (threads are so boring without pictures!) and I have learnt so much from watching your build. About the laminate, you say it is the Quick Step brand, in Natural Oak (colour), but what does the 'Eligna' mean? Is 'eligna' the exact colour, or is that the category? Do you know the exact code of the product so that if we choose it we don't choose the wrong one?! And one last question, what "white" did you choose for your internal walls? It looks nice. It appears to have a very slight light grey tinge to it, and it looks so much nicer than alot of the other 'whites' that seem to have creamy/pinky/yellowy tinges to them. aldavies3. Re: Vundaful's House - Let's get Landscaped... 746Jun 28, 2010 9:11 pm HI EVERYONE!! I have been a very neglectful little Vundy - busy busy busy (no time for internet surfing at work, and I've been SURROUNDED by female friends all getting with child!). The front garden is STILL not done yet - we decided to get a retaining wall put in at the last moment and this won't be started or completed until mid-late July The front garden is still just sand, though we found a delightful subsurface mortar lake that we had to break up and surreptitiously put in our small green bin over 4 weeks I do have SOME news to report! I have two beautiful new citrus trees courtesy of the housewarming! A dwarf Meyer lemon (which is apparently super juicy and sweet because of some mandarin/orange hybridisation shenanigans) and a dwarf Tahitian lime. I'll be on the look out for a Kaffir lime and a few Feijoas for the backyard in the future. I have been doing all y gardening in the (currently bollocks-chilling cold) evenings after I get home from work, so I have no pictures to show you all until the weekend aldavies3 - I'm so glad all my anal-retentive documenting has come in handy for someone! It's been my main source of creative outlet for all that pent-up house excitement Our laminate flooring is code U896. The types of Quickstep available in Australia are listed here: http://www.quick-step.com/australia/au/ ... _name.aspx the Eligna is their most popular - it's a non-bevelled, low sheen, embossed plank in a variety of wood finishes STILL having colourbond moments with the floor! Now as for the internal walls, our colour is Limed White 1/2 tint. It's a very pretty offwhite/grey with a subtle purple-pink tint to it. This tinge wasn't something I was bargaining for, and still bothers me a little bit - I would suggest that if you want something truely neutral you go for the colour Grey Pebble 1/2. It's basically the same colour, minus pink/purple tinge. Re: Vundaful's House - Let's get Landscaped... 747Jun 28, 2010 9:23 pm and I've been SURROUNDED by female friends all getting with child!). Been traipsing around in our quagmire of mud, clay and standing water that we're finally able to call our own after work for the last few nights in 6-8 degrees and yes for the record that is bollocking cold. Good to hear you made it through your housewarming without any disasters that require H1 attention. That should be a nice little citrus mix once you've got them all in as well. We spent the seeming obligatory 6 months going back and forth over our flooring choice and finally decided on the QS Elinga (U915 in our case). But just lately we have been in 2 places (both commercial - not residential) and the laminate flooring in those places were very "clicky". Made us rethink our choice. Went into a flooring shop today (oh god please don't let this be the start of another 6 month flooring journey) and took another look at the Eligna ans some other laminates. It seemed to us that the 12mm laminates were much less "clicky" than the 8mm, but it is very hard to tell with just a small sample. Do you find your floor noisy at all? Did you go with the standard underlay or the premium? Cheers Re: Vundaful's House - Still waiting on Landscaping :P 757Jul 12, 2010 11:15 am Hi Bob! Flooring does your head in, doesn't it... so many choices... Our Eligna has the characteristic hollow footstep - as much as people fear and dread it I think that it's unreasonable to expect it not to. The drummyness is most apparent in areas where there are large sections of it not weighed down by furniture - other sections (near furniture, kitchen islands, doorways etc.) have no drummyness and feel and sound as solid as the concrete beneath it. This is with an upgraded green foam underlay (not the top of the top, but a step up from basic). I also noticed that the 12mm laminates sounded less drummy, but I went with Quickstep because I liked their track record - the 12mm were being offered by newer Chinese laminate companies and I didn't want to run into problems with untested flooring 5 years down the track On the topic of "the click", I must say that I've grown indifferent to it in the hallway where it is the worst. I just associate it with the sound of 'my house' so it's become quite comforting hahaha! In bare feet and socks there is no click, either Good luck with your flooring decisions! Re: Vundaful's House - Still waiting on Landscaping :P 758Jul 12, 2010 9:52 pm V, Thanks so much for the reply. Discussed with the boss and we going to go ahead with the original QS decision. In all my concerns about the noise, I didn't think to ask how you thought the floor looks. Are you impressed with it? Cheers Re: Vundaful's House - Still waiting on Landscaping :P 759Jul 13, 2010 10:03 am I love it to bits! I keep telling people that I have 'Colourbond' moments with it Very impressed so far.
