Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 06, 2010 3:21 pm Hi everyone, just found this forum today - we are in the process of having our first home built, which should be finished mid 2010. We have a query with our kitchen, without going into masses of detail (yet!) we have an island bench with a sink + dishwasher. There are only two pipes coming out of the slab where the island bench will be, just wondering what the norm is (in WA) with having electricity and water running in the same pipe?? Not sure how they are planning to have hot water in, cold water in, electricity in, PLUS water drainage out with only two pipes. Any info appreciated Thanks! Re: Electricity + water in the same pipe? 2Jan 06, 2010 3:24 pm Ours looked like that too. I am guessing it is all fine. But I am no expert. Forum thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22300 Re: Electricity + water in the same pipe? 3Jan 06, 2010 4:44 pm Common practice here in vic is, Run a 90mm pipe from next to the drain for the sink, under slab and pop up at the wall frame opposite it, cut out the bottom plate where the other end of pipe is. Plumber will run his 2 pipes through that as they are flexible plastic 20mm for cold and 16mm for hot water and sparky will pull through his power cable. Re: Electricity + water in the same pipe? 4Jan 06, 2010 5:24 pm Thanks! We spoke to the site supervisor this morning who told us they never run water + electricity in the same pipe which is why we were stumped as to how they'd sort it all out with just the two pipes. Feeling a little better about it knowing it is possible (read legal) in VIC at least... hopefully here in WA too. Does not leave me with much faith in the site supervisor though, giving us incorrect info.
