Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 28, 2009 10:54 am Hi all, Once internal plumbing is in, a water pressure test should be performed. It involves pressurising the system harder than what it will normally run at. The results should show if there are any leaks. If the plumbing doesn't leak at high pressure, it's much less likely to leak at normal pressure. Does anyone know if their builder did pressure testing of their internal water plumbing? If yes, at what stage? And what about testing of the drainage system? According to AS/NZS 3500:2003, Part 2, Clause 13.3, drains must be tested. Finally, I already asked about this one - the stormwater system. Any clues?? Did anyone have any of these tested? Have you been given a layout of any of these systems? Re: Testing of Internal Plumbing and Drainage 2Jan 04, 2010 9:28 pm These tests should be done by the plumbers and the guarantee should fall under their licence/registration. Our plumbers would always test the sewer and water but not sure about stormwater pressure tests as the pipe is much thinner than sewer. If you have a concern then call the plumber first and ask him how the test went, if he tells you to 'go forth and multiply' then call the licencing authority and ask them what to do about the plumber and the testing. Thanks, builda!! With our project builder, I unfortunately have no idea who the plumber is and I didn't manage to catch him on site ... Do you know at which stage can / should this be tested?? Eg. late, at pre-handover stage, or ... ? Cheers My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Testing of Internal Plumbing and Drainage 4Jan 06, 2010 7:07 am Regardless of the builder, the plumber should provide you with a compliance certificate - I think this applies to all States and that compliance certificate is designed to demonstrate that the plumber has installed and tested to Code. Usually you get the compliance certificate at the end of the job, if you wanted an additional one for the underslab sewer and water roughin then you may have to pay for it - possibly up to $100. At the end of the day it is the buiders responsibility so ask the question of the supervisor - was the plumbing pressure tested? Builders are people too....
