Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 01, 2010 7:08 pm Just a curious question...... if there's such a thing In terms of getting the TV installer coming in - does it have to be before the roof is tiled ? Or can it be done once lockup has occured ? I'm just thinking of how the antenna gets installed if it's external. Our builder is providing 2 points, which I assume is wired up into the roof cavity. Also (and I know the technician will tell us when he does tests) - is internal (roof cavity) or external (rooftop) better for digital ? One more thing - anybody have any good, reliable and competitively priced installers in Melbourne's South East (Cranbourne to Frankston) ? Re: Installing TV Antennas - when ? And a few questions.... 2Jan 01, 2010 7:23 pm Mine was done after handover and he drilled a hole in the roof tile for the antenna to go through. If you have roof tiles then it doesn't matter too much for in roof or on roof when you get it done as they can remove a few roof tiles to put it in the roof space. And a few questions.... 3Jan 01, 2010 7:32 pm Ours was done post-handover too. Our TV points and wiring were installed by PD and then once we had the keys, we just called our local Jim's to get an antenna. He came over the same day to quote, and was back the next day to do the job. We were happy with the price and most importantly, we have perfect digital reception, so no complaints. Re: Installing TV Antennas - when ? And a few questions.... 4Jan 01, 2010 7:42 pm Oh and I just looked up some people on **** and asked them how much it would cost and booked someone in. For a single story with roof tiles it cost me $230 for 3 points to be wired in and like Kek, PD had done all my points on the walls and left the cabling in the roof to be hooked up 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' It was done after handover. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." Re: Installing TV Antennas - when ? Quite often you need to have it above the roof line to achieve line of site to the transmitting tower. There is no difference between digital and analogue antennas (in terms of the antenna itself or the way it is mounted). Re: Installing TV Antennas - when ?
