We had a number of dramas with valuations and if it wasn't for the connections our broker had, I have no doubt we would not have managed to get unconditional finance from our chosen provider. I definitely recommend going through a broker. Didn't cost us a cent, and all of the paperwork and liaison with the bank was handled by him.
