Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 24, 2007 7:45 pm Has anyone had any experience with the Austral Colourbrick System?
http://www.australbrick.com.au/tas/product_164_colourbrick.php It's a tinting system which gives the builder an alternative to rendering and bagging and painting. Just wondering if anyone has used it? How does it look? Any idea of cost? Re: Austral Colourbrick System 2Jul 25, 2007 6:36 am Haven't used it - but I've seen it and it looks great. No idea on the cost.
If you want an example - check out the Nu-Era display home in Mt Annan. Re: Austral Colourbrick System 3Apr 19, 2009 11:58 am Re: Austral Colourbrick System 4Apr 19, 2009 2:43 pm Our builder uses PGH but we upgraded to the Colorbrick system - was going to be an extra $6k on our home (but this is a 486sqm long home so a lot of bricks!!). We then decided against using it. My greatest issue was it is still a little unproven over here. In the whole of Newcastle / Hunter Region there was only around 12 houses I could look at that had used it. Bellevale Homes when they were still around used it on 10 of these in a subdivision. All of these homes were looking a little dingy in my eyes (they were around 5-6yrs old). The other 2 homes were brand new and looked nice enough but it was the longer view that I was concerned about. The other issue was that the colours in the brochure are nothing like the colours in true life. And of course the colour I wanted absolutely no-one had built with up here so it would have been a leap of faith. We ended up going with a face brick with off white mortar - it gives the appearance of a render effect but also further down the track we can render it if we so desired. Good luck with your choice Loretta. Some things are worth waiting for. Once you know the basics, the rest is easy. The cost/benefit of wired setups for the house are no longer what they used to be. Lots of wireless options.
