Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 30, 2009 7:08 pm Hi everyone. I'm new on here. We will be building our second home with Statesman in Adelaide in the new year. All paperwork is signed etc and just going thru all the pre-building stuff atm. Anyone else building/built with Statesman? Hopefully we'll be in our new home at the end of 2010. We've sold our first home we built and will be moving out about the end of January into a rental until our new home is built. Oh the joys....having to move twice. But i have to keep reminding myself it will be worth it in the long run. Look forward to working my way around this forum and the site. Hi to all and hope to hear from some. We are at lockup and I am hoping to be in early Feb. Once they start building they motor along fairly quickly! It is getting to the building stage that takes forever! Re: Building our second home with Statesman 11Jan 01, 2010 12:25 pm Hi! Yeah I think the paperwork part is torture. We've only started and it already feels like forever. We signed up on the 5th of December. So we have to wait a little longer cause of closures over the Xmas and new year period. I can't wait to see our master plans with all the changes we've made. Then selections. I look forward to that. But might have a look at the choices before selection day. Just bought a new big fridge as we needed one anyway that was bigger and our old one is now 11 yrs old. The people buying our house asked if we'd sell the fridge with the house. So it stays and I get a new one. Yay!! so that's me so far. I am now wondering whether some of the changes we made to our plan will work?!? We changed things from the original Statesman Adelaide Mark II split plan... I'll try to post a sketch of our plan if i can work out how to do it. would love suggestions. Re: Building our second home with Statesman 14Jan 04, 2010 2:39 pm Yay it worked!!! Now the things I'm thinking of changing AGAIN are the back bedrooms on either side of the games room. I'm thinking I'll put the door on the left one back to the hallway that goes to the bathroom. The one on the right I'm thinking of putting to the dining/kitchen area. And putting the WIR back into that bedroom, rather than in the games room (didn't like that anyway so don'tknow why we signed off on it ...derrr us). That right bedroom will be a guest room and the one that says BEDROOM without a WIR is acutally a study. The other two bedrooms left will be our kids rooms. How does that sound instead...... any suggestions anyone?? Ta Lea Re: Building our second home with Statesman 15Jan 04, 2010 2:41 pm Me again... bahahahaaahaha... This is the frontages.... we like the one on the top left but still not sure of what colour brick or tiles for roof to choose..... suggestions????? please Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Lea Building the Adelaide Mark II split (with alterations) by Statesman Land Bought Contract for building signed 5/12/09 Current house sold settlement in Feb 2010 Re: Building our second home with Statesman 16Jan 04, 2010 2:43 pm ok last picture one for now.... don't look too closely at the actual house design but this is the way the house will most likely sit on our block Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks to anyone who looks and I really am happy for any suggestions or criticisms. I would leave the bedroom door for the back right one to the games room, don't do it to the kitchen area as it will 'break' up that area. I think just having the double doors into the games room will look grandeuse, but then having this odd looking single door off to the right would look odd. I agree take the WIR out of the games room. But since that bedroom is so long just have a build in robe that runs the length of the bottom of the bedroom. I'd do the same with the middle back bedroom. Get rid of the odd shapped WIR, have a built in robe that runs along of bottom of the room, and have the door just after the robe. I'd also get rid of the two single garage doors, have a double span door. just imagine the kids as teenagers learning to drive, they will hit that centre pole. I really can't comment on the frontage Have a look at the other houses being built around where you are building, do you want to look like them or look different? Just a word on the criss cross black stuff on the windows, it is only stickers that are stuck on, and they charge you like $300 extra for it. IF you want that look you can stick the stickers on afterwards easily enough, get them from eBay We went with two small windows on the left and 3 on the right. I love the idea of the bedroom on the right having the door off the games room still..... that would look better from the living room especially seeing its just a guest/storage room ..... Yeah may even have the WIR in that one as a built in.... bit more space for the guests. Yeah def gonna put the left bedroom door to the hallway. but I think i'll leave that one as a WIR cause it's a weird shape anyway (we made it like that to fill in dead space) Yeah gonna have to look around at the frontage of others and colours. So excited bout selections. Thanks again. Oh you must know first that we have a slopping block....so it will be tiered going down toward the house.....the retaining walls will most likely be moss rocks....thats what we'd love. Oh and also it's very rough for the moment.
