Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 23, 2007 10:24 pm Hi all
Has anyone built their house out of the the Austral bricks La Trobe I have decided on this brick but now need to decide a colour scheme. First of all I need to decide on mortar colour. Natural or off white and whether it should be flush or raked. Has anyone got any ideas. I have a PD home with an urban Metro facade I am looking at either black or silver front windows or worse case beige. I am also using sambucca roof tiles I dont know what gutters and facias to use. Any suggested colours. I also need to choose two render colours. I though a dark purple and maybe a mushroom/choc type of colour. Any suggestions as I am lost on this one. Any help with this would be great as colours is not my best asset Re: Bricks and render 2Jul 23, 2007 10:57 pm Hi Stevec,
Austral should be able to give you the addresses of houses built with the LaTrobe. Look at those to see motar colour and joints and you may also get some answers to your other questions. They also have a display centre in Stud Road. In regard to the front windows, black will look stark, silver is very modern, beige is neutral and generally a safe middle of the road bet. Colour consultants are not expensive and can be a great help co-ordinating your colour scheme. The one thing I have learnt is that too many colours and textures in your street facade can be overpowering and detract from the look. As they say , keep it simple. Good luck. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
