Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 29, 2009 5:28 pm A friend has just called me to ask if I know how to get a rust stain out of a ceasarstone bench top - any ideas?? Also, while I'm at it, anyone know how I can get the rust stain from my grater off my metal sink? Thanks 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' He also said to only use metho and water to clean it - so far we have stuck with this (haven't needed to purchase any Gumption yet so don't know how well it works). Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Getting rust out of ceasarstone? 3Dec 29, 2009 5:39 pm No idea on the ceasarstone, sorry; but for a metalic sink/drainer, either Silvo or Brasso and a soft cloth. Abrasives, but nowhere near as harsh as a scourer. I've had my bottle of brasso for years; no idea if you can still buy it at the supermarket. Re: Getting rust out of ceasarstone? 4Dec 29, 2009 5:44 pm Make up a paste, using water and plaster of paris. Put on over the stained area and leave for about an hour. Remove and scrub lightly with a white nylon abrasive pad. Repeat if necessary. If it isn't drawing the rust out, try repeating the procedure using 50/50 vinegar and water. Ash. Re: Getting rust out of ceasarstone? 7Dec 29, 2009 6:12 pm buildingwithhamra I have had lucky getting rust of my lino with toothpaste. i think that would be abrassive more than anything though... I suggested bicarb or baking soda in equal parts water and that seems to be helping pull the rust out of the bench 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' "BARKEEPER FRIEND" powder... thats all you need to do the job. I got this info from ceasarstone's staff and it really works. Instruction: sprinkle it over the rust/stain spot, put a very wet paper towel over that and leave for about 1 - 2 minutes. Wipe it off, if needed scrub VERY gently - DO NOT scrub hard . The rust should be gone. If some still remains, repeat. the consistency should be like a paste. good luck!
